This epic collection from horror master Stuart Gordon is sure to send a shiver up your spine! The Stuart Gordon Box Set includes the terrifying films PIT & THE PENDULUM, CASTLE FREAK, and DEATHBED. This four disc collection also contains a full DVD of bonus features!

PIT & THE PENDULUM: In the quest to save souls, the Spanish Inquisition will stop at nothing and knows no boundaries for its evil. Under the direction of Torquemada (Lance Henriksen -- Alien, Pumpkinhead, Millennium) the Grand Inquisitor of Spain, a young baker's wife, Maria (Rona De Ricci) is falsely accused of witchcraft and dragged before inquisition and the Cardinal (Oliver Reed -- Gladiator, Three Musketeers). Torquemada is enchanted by Maria's beauty and subjects her and her husband Antonio (Jonathan Fuller -- CASTLE FREAK) to heinous tortures hoping to prove that his own desires for her are the result of her magic, that she has "bewitched him." With the help of Esmerelda, Maria's cellmate and a confessed witch, Maria must find the power to save her husband Antonio from Torquemada's ultimate machine of torture: the inevitable, razor sharp pendulum poised over the inescapable pit of hell.

CASTLE FREAK: Stuart Gordon takes you on a pulse pounding rollercoaster ride in CASTLE FREAK...one of the most macabre thrillers you'll ever experience. John Reilly (Jeffrey Combs -- The 4400, Re-Animator), Susan (Barbara Crampton -- The Young and the Restless), and their daughter come face with terror when they travel to Italy to move into a castle they have inherited. They soon discover it is haunted by a relentless bloodthirsty creature. When mutilated bodies start turning up, John must uncover the Reilly family's dark secret to save his wife and child from the sadistic being.

DEATHBED: Karen and her boyfriend Jerry rent a new warehouse conversion and accidentally discover a hidden antique brass bed. As terrors and nightmares emerge for anyone who sleeps in the long hidden bed, Karen begins to believe a malevolent spirit has been awakened and is changing her. She begins seeing things and thinks the things are seeing her...since finding the bed, the frights of the past no longer sleep...

"[Pit] Really underrated horror film from Stuart Gordon."  Ken Hanke, Mountain Xpress
"[Death] ...starts out as a soft porn movie...after that, it takes a quick turn and gets very suspenseful and even brings you a few jumps."  SlasherPool.com

Editor's Note

THE PIT & THE PENDULUM: Director Stuart Gordon offers up another smart, ambitious horror film in THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM, which is loosely based on the classic Edgar Allan Poe story. Resisting obvious horror film tropes, Gordon laces his film with a more internal brand of horror, focusing on the tortures of the soul and the evil that men do to themselves as well as others.

CASTLE FREAK: A dysfunctional American family learns that they have inherited a 12th-century Italian castle and travels to visit it. As soon as they arrive, strange things start happening. When two bodies are found in the dungeon savagely murdered, the family must unlock the castle's evil past in order to save themselves from a similar fate.

DEATHBED: When Karen (Tanya Dempsey) and her boyfriend, Jerry (Brave Matthews), move into a newly converted warehouse, they encounter horror in the unusual form of a haunted brass bed. The bed releases Karen's painful childhood memories, which eventually enter and consume every aspect of her life.

Professional Reviews
Cold Fusion Video Reviews 8 of 10
[Pit] Notably absent are such standard Full Moon features as colorful monsters with cutesy names more personality than their fodder; Gordon and Paoli don't look like they were interested in supporting the box office with a spin-off toy line...Black comedy has its place, as does more simple tension-relieving buffoonery. However, given the monstrous nature of Torquemada, the historical figure, and the incredible cognitive dissonance that allowed him to arrange the torture and execution of over a hundred thousand "heretics" while somehow attributing his actions to the Gospel of the New Testament, I felt guilty about enjoying any levity in the movie...Even allowing these flaws, however, I heartily recommend this movie. It will probably cause some actual thought, and images seen here will linger with you for days -- unusual effects of a Full Moon movie, so consider yourself warned. - Nathan Shumate

eFilmCritic.com 7 of 10
[Castle] Stuart Gordon has had his hand in several very cool horror flicks. "Castle Freak" isn't exactly one of them (not nearly as cool as "Dagon" or "From Beyond", but more worthy of ninety minutes than are "Robot Jox" or "Space Truckers"), but it's stylish and creepy enough to please Gordon's devoted fans, albeit maybe not that enthusiastically...What "Castle Freak" lacks in newness it aims to make up for in gore. Rarely do you see a film that combines graphic sex and cannibal gore to such grisly effect, and that may be a good thing, but it's important to praise a movie for what it gets right - and this one contains a few moments of crotch-chomping nastiness that even the most ardent gorehound will appreciate. - Scott Weinberg
