These performances are surprisingly energetic, even if they're a little too polished to accurately capture the gritty, roadside vibe they're trying to achieve. Nevertheless, there are a number of fine moments here, from covers of "Green River," "Tobacco Road" and "Mystery Train" to guest appearences from Eric Clapton, Albert Lee, Peter Frampton and Georgie Fame. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine | | In the sixteen years it took for bassist Bill Wyman to issue a follow up to his 1982 self-titled release, a lot had happened, most notably his resignation from one of the greatest all-time rock bands, the Rolling Stones. For Wyman's 1998 release, STRUTTIN' OUR STUFF, this ex-Stone recruits quite an impressive supporting cast of players (dubbed 'The Rhythm Kings'), including Peter Frampton, Eric Clapton, Albert Lee, and Georgie Fame. | | For a man with such a pedigree, Wyman keeps a surprisingly low profile on STRUTTIN'. The majority of the tracks are covers, including Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Green River," the blues rock standard "Tobacco Road," and an obscure original by Jagger-Richards, "Melody." STRUTTIN' OUR STUFF is definitely Wyman's best solo release yet. | Producer: Terry Taylor; Bill Wyman | Engineer: Stuart Epps | Musical Guests | | Beverly Skeete | | Albert Lee | | Eric Clapton | | Georgie Fame | | Geraint Watkins | | Bobby Keys | | Mike Sanchez | | Paul Carrack | | Peter Frampton |
