Surprisingly (and gratifyingly) hip for a film soundtrack, the music accompanying the surreal 2006 Will Ferrell movie is also something of a feast for Spoon fans, containing several instrumentals by band leader Britt Daniel, and one previously unreleased band song in "The Way We Get By." There are also several well-chosen 1970s punk rock gems, including the Delta 5's "Mind Your Own Business," Wreckless Eric's perfect punk miniature "Whole Wide World," and a demo version of the Jam's "That's Entertainment," as well as the more contemporary stylings of the Chicago band Califone's folk primitive "Bottles and Bones" and the Greek prog musician Vangelis's delicate "La Petite Fille De Mer."
