This StarTech UltraLight Quiet Laptop Cooler is THE BEST
COOLER EVER you can find. My laptop used to overheat and shut off with every flash game/video/youtube, even smokes! I had to deal with this everyday!
BUT this:
SOLVED it for good, and the laptop's bottom is almost cold.
+very very very Quite , you won't notice any difference of sound
+JUST USB powered!
+best design: the two fans are placed in exactly the middle so it doesn't matter if which orientation you use it

I have a Thinkpad with a bad system fan. A new system fan was going to cost over $150. The system had problems overheating, getting flakey and actually killed the hard drive. I put in a new hard drive and started using this cooler and have had no problems. This cooler has more venting options than others I looked at, so it works even on soft surfaces like bed covers or on your lap. It's very lightweight and makes hardly any noise. Since I use it all the time, I found it was easier to attach it to the bottom of the laptop. I used some heavy grade velcro from the hardware store to attach it to the laptop base.
