5 of 5 Good value Thursday, April 17, 2008 A Customer from St. Louis, Mo.
A very good value and 100% compatible. Installed in my Dell 4550 and running in about 5 minutes. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 startech power supply Tuesday, September 25, 2007 A Customer from Colbert, GA
This power supply was easily installed on my Dell 4600 Dimension
Computer. It has more power than the power supply that
came with the computer and the computer seems much more stable.
Before installing this power supply the least little blip in power caused the system to go down.
I contacted the Star tech people to make sure the supply would fit my Dell 4600. Their response was excellent and accurate.
A good experience all the way around. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Solid PSU replacement Thursday, May 31, 2007 A Customer from West Lafayette, IN
I replaced my stock 250W PSU after adding a new video card and extra fan. Installation was straightforward (although I did need an extension cable to get power over to the video card), and the new PSU is working fine. It's as quiet as the OEM version.
My only concern was that the new PSU was missing a "notch" on top to secure to the Dell case. Since this is a Dell specific replacement, it would have been nice to include that in the design. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Item works great Saturday, March 10, 2007 A Customer from Charlottesville, Va
I needed a replacement when the 305 watt power supply in my dimension 8300 burned up and I decided to try this one. The added umph that this one provides makes me feel better about burning 2 DVDs at the same time as playing on the internet. The added connections are great for an expandability aspect, but if you have a hinged case like mine beware. The extra cords that have no where to go have to be maneuvered funny in order to allow that case to hinge back shut. In theory it's cuts down on airflow through the case but my comps running cool while playing some intense online games. Overall I think this product is great. The fan is just ever so slightly louder than the one in my old power supply, but doesn't bother me at all. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 works great so far Saturday, March 10, 2007 don from fox lake, il
Replaced my old 250W PSU in my Dell 8300 when my 3 1/2 year old 128MB ATI Radeon 9800 fan died. Replaced video card with 256MB ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and needed more power because I've added so many components over the years (extra hard drive, DVD drive, 2 Gigs RAM, etc). This PSU is one of the few that has the plug configuration to the top left of the fan to fit my Dell case (most PSU's are the bottom left of the fan). Easy to install (ATX form factor), even has extra ATA and PCI-E cables if you need them (I just needed AGP). After running 2 weeks, no problems so far and runs reasonably quiet. I am pleased with this purchase. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 An easy upgrade for my Dell Dimension 8300 Thursday, February 15, 2007 A Customer from Naperville, IL
This power supply was a little extra money, but worth it in the end I think. Other than having a bit of trouble lining up the screw holes, the new power supply went in without a hitch and had all the right connectors for my Dimension 8300.
What this allowed me to do was to upgrade my video card to a 256MB GeForce 7600 GS card with its own power connector. It gave a very nice boost to my graphics performance. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Works and fits as advertised Tuesday, February 13, 2007 A Customer from Lexington, KY
I have a Dell Dimension 8200 and needed to bump up the original 250W power supply to 400W. Since the Dell case is not the ATX standard, I had to get a specific PS to fit the case. This one fits perfectly and runs just fine. The fan is just as quiet but starts to crank up once the heat from the PS starts to build a bit. The only complaint is that it didn't have as many 4 pin connectors that my original one had. Only 4 of the big ones and I needed 5. I hacked off a couple from my old PS and soldered them in to the new PS. Works fine. It was a little pricey compared to other PS's but hey, it fits my fancy Dell case! Overall, I'm pleased.
