This switcher works very well for my purpose, which is to simply switch s-video and stereo audio inputs going into my flat-screen TV. The hookup was intuitive (didn't need the manual) and both the remote and manual switching functioned flawlessly.
I tried to use other remotes, one being the one that came with my satellite receiver. I couldn't get it to program for the Startech switcher, but the one that came with my VCR worked just fine. Actually, I settled on the remote that came with the switcher and am very pleased with the setup. For the money, it was a great value. If, however, you need an HDMI switcher, this won't do, since it will only accept composite video (RCA jacks) and s-video. Was this review helpful?

I recently purchased this and it has worked great. My kids have several games that connect to the tv and this enables them to switch from game to game without having to deal with connecting and disconnecting cables. In addition, with the learning feature, I was able to program my cable remote to switch inputs so I don't need the included remote or have to push the button on the unit. The set up took only a few minutes.
I only downgraded it on performance because the contacts on the remote were a little off so I have to adjust them slightly to make sure they made good contact with the batteries. Since I ended up programming it to my cable remote it ended up not being necessary. It was only a tiny inconvenience otherwise. Was this review helpful?

When using other remotes they interfer with the switch. I have to keep changing back to the port I was using. Other than that (which I find a pain) it works ok. Because the price was so Low I determined that returning it and paying to and from postage, It was cost worthy to keep it. Was this review helpful?

Bought this product 2 weeks ago for less than $20 (free shipping)and it's just perfect and so far no issues...does serve the purpose. I have connected my Wii,Home Theater, Satellite Dish & external DVD player pretty much used up all ports and to connect all these took less then 5 minutes...now I don't have to swap between cables and highly recommend this product
pay back is the remote that comes along with this product and certainly helps you when you want to switch ports...rather than doing manually at the switch!! Was this review helpful?

The video component inputs on my Samsung LCD were apparently fried and are not working. If I wanted to continue using the component inputs I would have to send the TV for repair (it is out of warranty). I decided to use the composite inputs instead and this unit fit the bill. When I received this unit (arrived the next day) it was a 5 minute job to install and it worked perfectly. I did not use the remote as I don't swap from one aux device to the other. I purchased this for my parents since they got a 42" Monitor that didn't have standard plugs on it to plug in all their devices only had one set of RCAs and svideo. They have all 4 slots being used and it has worked great, comes with a remote which works well too. Their was one instance where it would not switch anymore between the devices a quick unplug and plug back in though fixed that single occurence Was this review helpful?
