5 of 5 Great USB Hub Monday, October 13, 2008
A Customer from Boulder, CO

This Star Tech USB Hub arrived quickly and solved a couple of problems - 1) now I can plug everything in, and 2) my USB headset for skype used to be plugged into my keyboard and the skype connection always sucked; now it is direct through the hub and calls are crystal clear. Best part is this hub is the size of a pack of gum - no extra "furniture" on the desk.

Very easy to use, connects perfectly. It's the perfect item to be able to use a large monitor, floppy drive, or any USB device on my laptop. Highly recommended.

5 of 5 Just as advertised Sunday, April 13, 2008
jcb182 from W. Babylon, NY
I was not asking much of this little guy, just being able to connect a printer and the occasional flash drive, and it works just fine. Nice and small, so it does not take up much desk space, but the cord is very short, so you will probably need to have a USB extension cord to sit it on your desk. Good value for a small price.

5 of 5 just what I needed Saturday, January 26, 2008
A Customer from Baltimore, MD
I had to stand on my head to insert my memory stick at work, and there was only 1 usb port. Both problems solved with this simple, small device. I am about to order another to carry with my laptop. Best of all was the service. I got it the day after I ordered it! I have been very pleased with Buy.com and the items I have purchased from them.

5 of 5 Great self-powered USB hub in a small package Saturday, December 22, 2007
Mike from Colchester, VT
Been using this StatTech four port hub with my MacBook Pro for about two weeks now and have not experienced any problems. I have attached two external USB hard drives and, at times, a digital camera and experienced no problems whatsoever in transferring data. I have on occasion moved some very large data files from the notebook to one of the attached hard drives and timed the transfer. The data rate appears to be very close to USB 2.0 spec. Great little device at a price hard to beat and best of all no need for an external supply.

3 of 5 Hardware Conflict Sunday, October 07, 2007
A Customer from Saint Cloud, MN
Looks like I have a conflict between the HUB and my laptop. I plugged in my webcam and mouse to the hub. It works at first, but after some time both my webcam and mouse received no power (you can know it by looking at the light the mouse emitted: no light, no power) and the USB port doesn't work either before you restart you laptop. I believe this product is an excellent product, just some unavoidable hardware conflicts that annoyed me.

5 of 5 A Perfect 10 for the StarTech 4Port Mini! Tuesday, September 25, 2007
George Havach from San Francisco, CA
I can only thank my lucky stars for happening upon the StarTech 4Port Mini 480Mbps Self-Powered USB 2.0 Hub in one of the frequent, almost daily e-mail bulletins I receive from Buy.com. About a year ago, I had been searching high and low for a decent-size USB 2.0 hub to connect from an internal USB 2.0 PCI expansion card to a handy front-panel two-port USB connector on one of my older computers (whose motherboard provided only USB 1.1 capability). Basically, the 4Port Mini worked right the first time, doing exactly what I needed and giving me two reliable front-panel USB 2.0 ports. Big plusses (for me) were the 4Port Mini's compactness, solid construction, lack of need for any external power supply, helpful red LED, and low price--in fact, I bought two of them together, one for a spare. Before long, however, I had attached the second one to the outside of that same PCI expansion card, in order to hook up three external USB devices that otherwise would have taken over all three of the USB connectors on the faceplate of the expansion card. Then, after purchasing a new notebook PC about two months ago, I could see the need to augment that unit's three built-in USB ports, and I remembered my earlier purchase from Buy.com. So, now I own three 4Port Minis, all working perfectly on a daily basis. I'm completely satisfied with their high-quality, glitch-free performance and would enthusiastically recommend the 4Port Mini to anyone needing a first-rate USB 2.0 hub that they can take and use almost anywhere.

1 of 5 Did not work with my laptop Sunday, August 12, 2007
A Customer from Los Angeles, CA
I have an ibm x40 laptop. Once I connected the hub, my laptop didn't read it, there were no drivers to download to solve the problem. What you pay for is what you get- a cheap, non-working hub.

2 of 5 For Laptop only, cord is too short Tuesday, May 29, 2007
A Customer from tampa fl
The picture should have been the clue for me. That cord is very short. 3" max. As a usb hub it's fine, but I was hoping to set it on top of the desk. Oh well off to buy an extender cord. Also - Self powered is confusing. To me, that means this would have it's own AC plug and be independent of the computer. Instead they mean that it draws power from the computer. Just means you can't charge anything via USB unless the PC is on. All in all, not really what I wanted, but it was my bad for not reading closer.

5 of 5 Perfect for a notebook Saturday, May 26, 2007
Simon from New York, NY
This hub works exactly as it should. All four ports can run simultaneously at full speed. Runs warm but not hot. Very convenient to carry with a notebook but, because it has a very short cable, it requires a USB extension cable for use with a desktop. Product description is inaccurate in one relatively unimportant respect: there is only one LED (for power) but no additional LEDs to indicate port status. Because it is bus-powered, don't buy it if you intend to use it to connect a printer, an external hard drive (except a pocket drive) or CD/DVD writer. (External diskette drives work with no problem.) The four ports are all mounted in-line on one surface of the hub, so that you may not be able to use them all simultaneously if one or more of your USB devices is unusually bulky near its connector.

5 of 5 BIG performance, SMALL package & price Saturday, March 11, 2006
A Customer from Greeneville, TN
I've been using these mini-hubs for about a month now and am VERY happy with them! Performance is excellent -- full USB 2.0 speed and capability; no power problems, even when connected in series; and no heat problems! It is perfect for your notebook or anywhere space is at a premium. The smallest 2.0 hub I have seen!
