4 of 5 It works... Sunday, August 12, 2007 Anthony from Dallas, TX
Pro's:
1) There are 2 IDE connections...so you can add 4 IDE devices.
2) Once you get it set up, it works fine.
Con's:
1) It's pretty expensive.
2) I'm not sure if this was a fluke thing or a problem with the hardware control: I put 2 hard drives on the same cable...with each hard drive set to cable select. I wanted to reformat one of the hard drives, and the other larger hard drive contained important data. During format, I got a stranger error message...so I tried it a few more times...same error. When I tried to access my data on the larger hard drive, it asked if I wanted to format the drive. What?! It turns out that when it was formatting the smaller drive, it also formatted the larger one to the same size as the smaller one. And what's even stranger is that it formatted the smaller one with too many bytes for that hard drive. Neither hard drive was accessible, as the partitions on each were faulty (one was too big...and the other was incomplete). That was a nightmare, but I was able to recover my data thanks to some data recovery software. I'm still not sure what caused this freak format problem, so I'm not positive if it was the hardware. Just be VERY cautious if you plan on formatting a drive when you have 2 drives on the same cable. Was this review helpful?
