| The Wreckers are about creation, not destruction. Bringing together two young, fearless female singer-songwriter,acoustic guitarists--Grammy-winning, platinum-selling Michelle Branch and collaborator Jessica Harp. The Wreckers debut album, Stand Still, Look Pretty, blends Branchs pop-rock sensibility with Harps country-folk style. Edgy yet rootsy, on Stand Still, Look Pretty, The Wreckers have a ball.
| | Album Notes and Credits | Notes & Personnel Info | | The Wreckers: Michelle Branch (vocals, acoustic guitar); Jessica Harp. | | Personnel: The Wreckers (vocals, acoustic guitar). | | Erstwhile pop singer Michelle Branch combined forces with her friend and fellow musician Jessica Harp in 2005 for this immensely likable foray into the rockier side of country music. Finally released in 2006, STAND STILL, LOOK PRETTY combines the loose, relaxed feel of a casual collaboration with the tough sheen of a professional contemporary pop production. Branch's songs are flexible enough to accomplish the transformation from pop into country with ease, and the more adult alternative-oriented cuts like the title track and "Cigarettes" are almost Fiona Apple-esque in their self-examining and confessional tone. | Producer: John Leventhal; John Shanks; Paul Worley; Michelle Branch |
| | Artist Overview | | The Wreckers are the country-pop side project for Michelle Branch, along with singing and songwriting partner Jessica Harp. They produce catchy, harmony-laden shuffles, rockers, and ballads that appeal to both traditional country fans and loyal Branch enthusiasts. Friends for many years before they formed the act, each brings a different musical acumen to the mix; Branch's pop sensibility meshes effortlessly with Harp's Nashville know-how. Their 2006 debut album shot to number fourteen on the Billboard pop charts, number four on the country charts, and an impressive number one on the U.K. country charts. |

5 of 5 excellent! Tuesday, June 27, 2006 A Listener from Ladera Ranch, CA
If you are a Michelle Branch fan, you will not be disappointed with this album. It has a very heavy country influence and at times you may think you are listening to the Dixie Chicks, but The Wreckers have a great sound with 12 well-written songs. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Amazing Album Of The Year 5 star Friday, June 16, 2006 A Listener from BonneyLake, WA
The Wreckers debut album is a must buy. It's great from beginning to end i love every song on the album it has a new fresh sound Branch & Harp are amazing together. Their voices blend together so well you can rarely tell who is singing. You will love this album if you like country, pop, rock, bluegrass, acoustic, singer-songwriters, and everything in between. If you have been a Michelle Branch fan before - this is just the next step in her career, and a graduated version of the songwriting she did on Hotel Paper. And if you've never heard of Jessica Harp, then you're in for a treat.
