The box was here 14 hours after I sent it I set it up and It kicks ass. It starts to sound better after a few hours of work and loud play all and all very happy with it has great sound very clear I dont dig rap or hip/hop or crap like that so for people who like just good sound this is it for the price.

I gotta say they sound, look, and fell grate they set up super easy and sound grate, deep lows sharp highs i can't say anything bad about them, powerful speakers in a small size =)

I read many reviews about the harmon/kardon Soundstick ii pc speakers and almost all "reasonable" people gave it 5 stars while some gave it 4 stars because of the blue light - that it could not be turned off and wanted it off when they went to bed. True the blue light cannot be turned off while you have the speakers turned ON, but all you do is press the knob in, and it turns the speakers OFF. I saw some reviews that complained you had to unplug the speakers at night... this is untrue. You simply PRESS the button in on the base unit and it turns it off. Everyone has said everything about the speakers... so I just wanted people to understand HOW to simply turn off the speakers which turns off the light. Apparently many people have not noticed that the button on the Base unit turns the speakers off... For $100 bucks these speakers are great.

The clear enclosure is an interesting design and the sound is nothing short of great. These speakers do not suffer the distortion I experienced with previous speakers. Except for the on/off switch being located on the sub-woofer under my desk, I find these speakers and excellent value and easy to use.

This is my fourth set of Soundsticks (Office, home office, wife's home office, bedroom), so I guess that says a lot about how I like the sound. However, there are two non sound-related features these could really use: 1) I didn't discover this until I got this last set to use as a white noise generator for sleep in the bedroom (together with the iPhone app Ambience): the blue LED indicating power on is really quite bright, and I don't think there is a way to turn it off. Never has been a problem for the office uses, but I might get something different for a darkened bedroom. 2) Because the volume controls are touch-sensitive (electrostatic?) up and down buttons on one of the speakers, there is no way to tell what the volume level is before you start to play music. Sometimes this can result in a sudden sharp blast of static when plugging them into a source (like iPhone or iPod, which we use for all 4 installations). At the volumes I sometimes listen to music, this static blast feels loud enough to potentially damage the speakers. The only solution is to always hold the down button for a few seconds (erring on the side of longer, since there is no volume indicator) before each time you plug something in, then find the right volume afterwards. With portable music players, this is virtually every time I use them. What would be really cool is if the top speaker had a row of 6-8 leds that worked as a volume indicator, though I supposed that like the power on indicator in the subwoofer, I'd like to be able to suppress them.

I love my speakers! They are perfect for my small office (10 x 10) plus they look and sound great. My only complaint is the location of the power button...it is on the woofer, which is on the floor under my desk. I would have liked to have the power button where the volume control is. The volume control is pretty cool and easy to get to and use. A fantastic buy for the money.

I love my new speakers. I bought them to replace an old set of Harmon Kardon multimedia speakers that I use with an LCD TV in a guest bedroom. They really crank out the sound. At first I was a little unsure about having the seperate bass unit, but no more...this is what really makes these speakers sound incredible! I have them hooked up using the headphone jack and like the fact that they came with a direct plug connector as well. I looked at a lot of other multimedia speakers before buying these, but I wasn't convinced that anyone else makes a better sound and better quality product than Harmon Kardon...once again I am totally satisfied. Thanks HK!! For those who mentioned the blue light- I plugged mine into a seperate power strip and simply use the on/off button here to turn it off.

Very good sound. Not up to the level of the best H/K system speakers, but certainly much better than the speakers that come with a typical desktop and astronomically better than laptop "speakers." The price is fair for the product. I wish there had been an on/off switch for the set as the blue light on the sub-woofer keeps me awake at night. The volume "switch" is very ingenious, but I would prefer that the bass control be more accessible. (It's a knob on the s-woofer and inconvenient to reach.) All-in-all I consider this a very good buy, but I hope version III addresses some of the weaknesses.

These speakers look and sound great! They are easy to setup and provide a natural and full sound. Most music plays well, but I was a little critical about the mid-high frequency performance, especially for rock/metal music. The other minor flaws are the lack of a power button and volume level indicator. But overall this product is great! I would definitely pick these over the bose companion 3.

This system puts out!! At first I didn't realize there were volume controls on the right speaker. Went a week with it putting out at just the default level. BUT THEN, I found the controls and OMG! did it blow me away! The system was also very easy to set up...pretty much "plug and go". Would recommend these speakers to everyone. The only negative I have about it - there is no on/off switch so the blue light emanates 24/7...but I can put up with that.

I recently purchased the Harmon Kardon SoundSticks II Multimedia Speaker System - 2.1-channel - Transparent speakers because my old computer speakers were not living up to the majesty of my new iMAC 24" system. What a great solution! Not only are these speakers knighted with a fantastic sound in the upper and midrange ends but are possessed with a crisp, clear bass at the lower foundations of music where it really counts. These qualities and the incredible price make these speakers an unbeatable combination of style, value and coolness. You can't go wrong with this product. A true "5" in every sense of the word!

I wanted good sounding speakers for our home computer without paying a ton of money. My brother has these and loves them so I thought I'd give them a try. Very easy to set up. Everytime I listen to music I'm amazed at the sound quality. All the reviews I've read about these are positive and I add mine to the list. Great speakers!

Love these speakers I bought. The sound is great, terrific, easy to set up, took 5 minutes and they look great as well. Good design and in the dark blue glow! Negative - no on/off switch.

Being a college student, I don't have a lot of money to spend, so this was a godsend for me. I was looking for a great pair of speakers for my comuter (these work with a headphone jack or a white/red audio-in adapter, which are both included) , did some research, and found these. They arrived promptly about 5 days later, and I've loved them ever since. The sound quality is phenomenal, especially with a few tweaks, and with lossess music, these speakers are the epitome of perfection. The only downside I found was that they don't have a headphone jack, but it's simple enough to switch output from the speakers to say, headphones. I really liked the clear design and deep bass delivered by the subwoofer, and I think anyone who loves music will love these HK speakers.

I'm a college freshman and decided to order some speakers to go with my laptop in my dorm room. I love listening to music, and I can honestly say I am the biggest audiophile I know, and these speakers were perfect for me. I first found out about these from my dad, who has had a set for about 3 or 4 years, and they're still booming. The sound quality on these speakers is amazing, they're very easy to set up (took me less than 5 minutes), and they look great anywhere. The clear design is definitely a nice touch. The only downside is that it takes a bit of tweaking to get the subwoofer to sound absolutely perfect. Overall, these were a great value for what I paid, they sound phenomenal, and they're definitely a must-buy for any audiphile who is restrained by a budget.

I bought the Sounds Sticks to replace my other speakers that went out. They were simple to hook up. I am running on XP, so there was no driver or software to install. Just plug and play. Others have commented about the volume control which is not hard at all to use. You just have to reach over to touch the speaker. My Keyboard also lets me control the volume from it. I'm a fan of sound, having Klipsch in the living room and the Klipsch Player (Better than Bose) for my Ipod. The Sound Sticks were cheaper, so I gave them a try. They have great clarity for the highs. The Bass has the right amount of pounch, not too deep, but a good mix. The only draw back is that you can not use your surround EQ with these speakers (I cound on my other). The adjusments on the speakers sound good though. I do not think anyone would be disappointed with these.

Sound clarity is excellent out of the box; even better with a top-end sound card. Subwoofer, while only 20 watts, packs a punch. This set of speakers is worth the money.

I am very happy with these even though they look a bit odd. These soundsticks ROCK!!!!!!! I have recommended these to several friends now. They are all very happy. The subwoofer has a nice tighter thump than most. It's not sloppy and boomy like the Bose companion 2 system. (My previous speaker system)

These speakers pick up EVERY accoustic nuance, perfect sensitivity. The louder you play them the more crisp they sound. Basically a perfect system except that there is no trebble adjustment which I would bump up a bit for certain rock songs. They have an equalizer built in that works great but not perfect depending on your preference in sound. Subwoofer is plenty powerful and crisp as is the whole system. Unless you feel like spending $350+ buy these.

I spend the day in an office using a laptop. lack of an on-off switch is somewhat annoying, but oh well. They sound great, look interesting and sound great. Did I mention that they sound great? Nice and clear with well defined bass. I have a set of Logitech 2.1 speakers for our home computer and I'm seriously considering trashing them and getting another set of these.

These speakers are great. I wanted a simple, straightforward audio solution for my home office and they are perfect. The very creative design was what led me to choose them and when they arrived (free shipping and VERY quickly), I was happy to find they are also of excellent quality. I had a little trouble with the volume controls on the satellites because the documentation is somewhat lacking, but now that i have figured it out, I am very happy that i bought this system.

PC Mag wrote a review about these speakers being the best sounding.. THEY ARE! weird is ok if they are the best in their price range.. They are a feast for the ears.. You will not go wrong buying Harman Kardon's PC stereo speakers.

Before buying the spearkers, I actually read the reviews. At first I thought they sounded like they were paid to praise. I decided to give them a try. I recieved them yesterday within 2 min.s they were installed and I was jammin. The differance was night and day. Now I don't know alot about computer spreaker systems, but these are incredible, the sound, design and space saving. UNREAL! I truley wonder, if these are not the top of the line speakers for the PRICE, whats is? The only improvement to the speakers would be to illuminate the "- and +" volume control buttons and Illuminate the SAT. speakers like the sub. YOU CAN'T GET A BIGGER BOOM FOR THE BUCK!!!!!! Do your self a flavor, buy now, and tell your better half later.

when the first time i turn it on. I'm a bit dissapointed because i just can't found the volume control button. haha awesome,,,, But after i find it and give it a touch,,,, wow the sound come up and shocking me rite a way... i haven't turn it to full power,, just 5/8 and my neighbour already knocking at my door.. haha i'll try with a full power if he been gone.... the sound quality is really smooth,, its justperfect!

Not only do these speakers have a gorgeous apperance, they also rock like hell. I have played everything from heavy metal to classical to rap on these bad boys and it all sounds unbelievable. This is the best purchase you could make and the price is more than fair.

Ever since I got Harman/Kardon Soundsticks II, I enjoy them everyday. Great sound and performance and they look cool too. No complains. Easy to install and get them to go. My recommendation is BUY!

These speakers have a nice quality of sound, lots of midrange frequencies and a decent fidelity. Listening to Jazz and Classical music in those speakers is a pleasant experience. I use them in my room, and they are able to fill it with good quality sound. The satellite speakers are a little too directional for my taste, but the overall result is surprisingly good for what it is.

These speaks are great. They look very cool and have excellent sound. I use them in my home office to make it a happier place while I am working. I am the pickiest person alive and do tons of research before I buy on cnet etc.. and these are just amazing. And, they are not too pricey either. You will not be disappointed. I was nervous but they turned out to be an excellent buy. No regrets.

I like everything about the speakers except for the volume +- buttons. there's a metal touch sensor for + and one for - located on the same speaker. At one point I was having trouble getting the volume where I wanted it and I was momentarily frustrated by the lack of a more simple button to push where you can actually feel how many levels up or down you are going on the volume.

To fall prey to a worn out cliché, WOW!!!!!!!!!!. Now that we've got that out of the way, I'm not sure I can speak highly enough of these speakers. Aside from the fact that they are some of the most distinct and aesthetically pleasing speakers I've ever seen(fuzzy pengiun speakers aside), they really put out. They've got enought oomph to annoy people 3 appartments down and enough clarity to let you hear things in your music you never even noticed before. I reserve a 5/5 for things that really do deserve it, and these do. On the technical side, after you set them up (which is so easy a retarted monkey could do it with one hand tied behind its back), it takes a day or two for the internal components to fully charge and get broken in. So, if they don't sound super awesome right out of the box, just give it a little time and play stuff with increasingly strong bass rythms.

Overall I'm pleased with my purchase. The aesthetic factor makes these worth it and the performance is pretty good considering the low price. Within the first week I had a couple squares who live above me come down to ask me to turn the base down due to "quiet hours" in an apartment I throw down a huge sum of money to live in - at 10:20p mind you, while trying to wind down after 15 hours of work and school. Needless to say, I was not too tickled with them. . . . . . . . . . . . Anyhoo, buy.com asked me to review, so here is my review: The speakers put out some incredible highs and the sub is really powerful. My only problem has been finding good mid-range sound. I intend to upgrade my sound card just because it's about that time and I'm hoping it will help. I've messed with the EQ, the base volume, ouput volume on laptop, etc, etc, but still find that the mids tend to crack at not-all-that-loud volumes. It's definitely not horrible by any means, but noticeable. Hopefully cleared up with soundcard, so no worries. These are great speakers and far more solid than they look in the picture. The plexi or acrylic or whatever is thick and I was impressed when I pulled them out - the blue light in the sub is a nice touch. Definitely loud, thumping, clear and worth the price. I'm impressed.

This audio system is a nice addition to the computer, although, there is relative compromise in overall perspective. 1) An on-off switch enables a one time set and forget volume if you use the audio for an alternative source, like your television and the like: no on off switch provided. 2) Bass is good in combination with the desktop satellites, although when isolated quite bad in reproduction, a disappointment. I even followed some other review suggestions to low volume break in with loops of bass and drums with steady increase in volume every hour for a good eighteen hours before using at normal volume or higher volume. Overall for the money spent a great value and am very happy and pleased with the sound for the money and ofcourse the looks and style.

I just got my new Soundsticks today and I am totally lovin' them. They have the best sound I've ever heard and Buy.com had them for a great price. I would suggest these speakers to anyone who needs a good system for their computer. They also look hella cool!!! Sweetness all around.

Unreal! These Soundsticks BLOW away anything else I've heard or tested in the 100-300 dollar range and this is only a 2.1 system!! Beautiful HIGHS, MIDS, and LOWS = and not many computer speakers can say that (most will have good highs and lows but no mids, or missing one or the other) Then toss in the fact that they look so incredibly sweet & take up little room. WITHOUT A DOUBT the best buy you'll find. Don't waste your time or $ on ANYTHING else.

I own a powerbook G4 and ordered those speakers yesterday to complement it. I have already received them and think they're absolutely wonderful!!! The quality of sound, unic design and ease of installation has made me a very satisfied customer!
