The bottom line is that Bland can sing just about anything with feeling and seemingly effortless phrasing. What's here, however, is basically an abridged version of his greatest hits. This is the cream of his work in the late '50s and early '60s, with the exception of a duet with Bland's old pal B. B. King, recorded in 1976. Album title notwithstanding, SOUL LEGEND is all blues, of course.
