For its size, the Sony HD tuner is a great piece of equipment. It is easy to set up and easy to use, delivering mostly great sound on the FM band and moderate performance on the AM side.
It fits in well with my ancient Tandberg receiver, and I wouldn't part with it for anything.

The SONY XDR-F High Fidelity Radio delivers clear, static free sound and integrates easily with any receiver. Set-up is not hard, but not completely intuitive. With the accompanying di-pole antennae most expected stations are tuned with equal or improved clarity over non-digital tuners in this far suburban Pittsburgh/West Virginia home. Accessing pre-sets is a little clumsy, as it requires scrolling backwards or forwards, rather than allowing a jump from say pre-set 9 directly to pre-set 18.
One disappointment was that the unit is billed as a radio, but in fact is a tuner that requires at least an additional integrated amplfier and speakers to function. Overall it is not disappointment, but not delightful. Was this review helpful?
