2 of 5 Very Small Charge Monday, June 29, 2009
Nicky Dronoff-Guthrie from Orlando, FL

Living in FL, hoped it would at least keep cell phone charged. Had it in direct sunlight all day (8 hours) and cell phone still not charged. Cell phone showed it was "charging", but at end of test, still not charged and cell phone battery was not in red when we started.

5 of 5 Does what is promised inexpensively Sunday, April 19, 2009
A Customer from Wadena, MN
I have gotten it to provide a recognized charge to my Palm Centro via the USB adapter. My only gripe is it would be nice to have had a case that held the cable and adapters.

4 of 5 Small price, small size, small charge Friday, February 27, 2009
J from des moines, ia
This little charger is great. I was hoping it would charge any devise, but that is not the case, it will only charge smaller batteries like cell phones. If that is what you are wanting, this is perfect. It is easy to use, you just open it, plug in the cables and place the charger in the sun and charged my BlackBerry 8130 fairly quickly.

1 of 5 It never worked... Monday, December 29, 2008
Gary from Kansas City, MO
I purchased the portable solar charger to charge my ipod, cell phone and sony digital camera. I got the new solar charger in very short order and I thought it just didn't work with incandescent bulbs - so I took it outside, still never worked. I purchase a lot on-line, this was the first bad deal I got, so I don't feel quite so bad... I just wouldn't waste my money on this brand.

4 of 5 Okay, in a pinch. Friday, December 19, 2008
A Customer from New York, NY
This item arrived with a single break in the path of light sensors. However, it doesn't appear to have a great affect on its functionality. Perhaps the charge would be stronger, if not broken. It does seem to charge my classic video iPod, though I haven't tried charging it from empty. Haven't tried it with any other portable devices. It must be in direct sunlight to be effective. I'd hoped it would be able to charge under the light of a bright desk lamp. Still, worth it if you're traveling and it's not night time.

2 of 5 Nice Idea, but Tuesday, December 09, 2008
PFloydNVa from Richmond, Va
I bought this sometime back when it was 1st offered, and I can't say I was impressed. Even though the connection for my Samsung SPH-i700 cell wasn't included, I had one. I let the battery drain about halfway for testing, and found that even though I had this on the dash of my van in direct sunlight; mid July on a clear day; my battery ended up draining further. Since this connection was the primary purpose for my purchase, I've not tested it with any other portable devices I have. However, considering my other portables have higher power consumptions, I seriously doubt it'll work with them either. Don't get my wrong about my review, as it's a great idea and probably works fine with devices that have lesser power requirements. Nevertheless, the moral of the story, check the power rating of the device you're intending on buying this for. Otherwise, you'll end up with a so-so charger for rechargeable batteries.

4 of 5 GoGreen Monday, December 01, 2008
Andres from SJ, CA
Works great in direct sunlight. Charges my Zune, phone and my portable speakers. Works as it should, but the only down side is it needs to be in DIRECT SUNLIGHT and it doesn't charge as good as a good old socket. Cant complain too much for free power.

4 of 5 Great Novelty for the Green Saturday, October 18, 2008
Lynn Ingberg from Beverly Hills, MI
I purchased this item for myself. Two friends loved it, so I bought two more. We all use it, and can even use it indoors, as long as the unit receives direct sunlight. The unit does provide a charge much slower than an AC rapid charger, and even slower if charging an electronic device indoors as opposed to outdoors. It comes with an adapter for EVERYTHING I own, which makes it even better. All and all, I am glad I purchased it and do not need electricity, unless I experience several cloudy days.

5 of 5 It Works and it works GREAT!!! Tuesday, September 23, 2008
Darrell G. from West Paterson, NJ
No offense, but I don't know how some of you reviewers are leaving your phones in direct sunlight with the Solar charger. Obviously, there are ways around that and it's not recommended. Direct sunlight is not good for any devices. I have tested it on my ATT Tilt and my Jawbone headset and it works PERFECTLY! The included attachments are GREAT, especially the USB attachment. The included ipod attachment did not work with my 4th Gen ipod but I think if I use the USB attachment and my white ipod USB cable, I should be able to get a charge. With the mini USB and the standard USB attachment, the amount of things that you will be able to charge with this device are ENDLESS!! This is the best value I've seen on Buy.com in a long time!! Best $15.00 I've ever spent!!! Highly recommended!

3 of 5 OK when there's no alternative Tuesday, September 23, 2008
Gary R. from Atascadero, CA
For a backpacker who wants a bit of cell phone "insurance" or to keep an MP3 player topped off when there's no electricity, it's a nice compact unit and should serve the purpose. If you're thinking you're just going to lay it on your car dash and use it instead of buying a car charger, forget it. You need to point both panels directly at the sun on a bright day, and it should charge your unit fine, given enough time, though I don't know if it charges ipods and could not care less. Make sure your phone is included on the list before you buy it, unless you're capable of assembling an adapter for it yourself. The USB adapter is handy for many real MP3 players and similar products...charges my Creative Zen and a Cowon F1 fine. It's also handy for the inevitable group member who forgets their phone charger on a trip, as long as one of the adapters will fit. This unit is very compact and light, which also means it's pushing the limits of the technology just to get a bit of trickle charge working under ideal conditions, so be forewarned.

return2sender from ft lauderdale, florida
I've tried this charger on a nokia, a motorola w490 and my iphone. all were totally unresponsive to this charger and gave no indication that they were charging at all. so far it seems to have been a waste of money for me. all 3 phones plugged in fine..just wouldn't charge at all

3 of 5 Not compatable with both of my phones! Monday, September 22, 2008
jaysjunk2000 from Tucson, Az
Seems like it would be a great product but it is not compatible with either of my new cell phones Samsung Gleam u700 and Motorola Adventure v750. I am going to attempt to get tips from the company. It does have a usb charger for the iPod so it is not unusable for me. I can't wait to use it!!

1 of 5 Absolutely Catastrophic Sunday, September 21, 2008
A Customer from Thibodaux, Louisiana
I was originally pleased with the appearance of the product on it's arrival. Sleek and stylish with apparently completely intuitive function. That satisfaction quickly turned into horror when I put it to work. First task was an attempt to charge My Motorola RAZR. Bright sunny day here in Southern Louisiana. I plugged the Soldius into the charge port of the telephone and placed the solar panel on the dash of my vehicle. Hmmm. No indication that the phone was charging. Ah well, says it takes 30 seconds or so to get started. I left it for 5 hours and returned. The phone was not only not charged, it was acting like it had been fried. Three hours on my regular charger brought it back to life. Two days later a second attempt, this time with my MP3 player, which was almost fully charged, provided a glimmer of a clue. The SOLDIUS drove that battery into a deep discharge, the likes of which I'd never before experienced. My conclusions are that either the Solar Panels generate ZERO current or that the unit is wired backwards. Either way this product was much less than a zero.

3 of 5 Great price, not so useful Saturday, September 20, 2008
Grant from Tulsa, OK
For 20 bucks I couldnt turn this offer down. I bought this solar charger for my blackberry cell phone, which I have had for two years and wouldnt give up for anything. When I try to charge my phone in my car almost everytime I hit a patch of shade for an extended amout of time it restarts my cell phone. VERY FRUSTRATING when you have a busy day and are expecting lots of phone calls. Also tried charging my microsoft zune, not enough power to charge. Great idea for emergencies but dont expect everyday use.

1 of 5 not useful for me at all Friday, September 19, 2008
Disappointed from Chicago, IL
When I read this it sounded like a great product at a great price. But I only found out after I received it that it needs INTENSE DIRECT sunlight in order to work. It charged my Blackberry just fine but although it said it charges iPods as well it did not work for my iPod Touch or Nano no matter how long I left it in the sun (probably means the huge first generation iPods from last decade). So being that its only usable during a BRIGHT sunny day, that means the only practical purpose I can use this for is to charge my phone while sunbathing on a beach. No thanks. The website that's on the packaging is no longer there so I'm assuming the company is out of business. Promptly returned, even given the cheap price.

4 of 5 iPod stuff Thursday, September 18, 2008
Calvin from Billhelmsburg, VA
it has issues with iPods. It charges all of my phones and i had neighbors bring theirs over. Did great. I'm guessing that the USB patch for the iPods is defective..... Needs full sunlight!

5 of 5 Not bad Wednesday, September 17, 2008
milodog from Brooklyn
For $20 I had to try it. It ships with many tips for various devices. I use it to charge a T-Mobile Dash, there is a general USB tip also so just to mess around I plugged in my Garmin Navigator and Blueant Bluetooth headset to see if it works and it did. Only one small caveat for people just getting into the solar power scene like me, it will only obviously work under direct sunlight, so if you actually stare at your devices being charged you might see them intermittently power on and off. I hope and I stress hope that this doesn't cash out the battery on my devices. :) So far it doesn't seem like it has. I'm hoping that someone with more experience can comment on this.

4 of 5 Ready for the Hurricane? Thursday, September 11, 2008
Alan from Waukegan, Illinois
I just picked up one of these little solar chargers, the price was just too cheap to hold back. What comes in the pack are 10 or so adapters and connectors and a mini-USB cable. Looks like adapters for IPOD, various cell phones, and some I'm not really sure about. The mini USB cable plugged right into my Blackberry (completely dead from lack of use) without any adapters. I put it on the roof of my car in the sun at 10am, and I just went out and got it at 2pm. The phone is mostly charged - probably needed another hour or two. The plug also charges my little Fuji point and shoot camera. I picked this up for generally emergency preparedness. I know it'll never be enough to run my Ham radio gear, but being able to rechage the cell phone (eventually those services are restored) and the digital camera (so I can keep taking disaster response photos) is worth it. For $20, you can't go wrong.
