SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs places gamers in the role of an elite SEAL commander trained to protect America from hostile forces throughout the world and collaborate with international allied forces in unified missions. Playable both in single-player offline and up to 16 players online (broadband) via the Network Adaptor (Ethernet/modem) (for PlayStation 2), SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs features all new gameplay, incredibly detailed graphics, increased chat and online functionality, unique mission types, additional weapons and more. Robust communication (voice and text chat) improvements make SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs one of the most interactive and dynamic team-based games available to date.

In single-player mode, gamers must battle through a combination of 12 intense international missions that take place in both urban and rural settings, in various weather conditions and during different times of the day in treacherous international locations such as Algeria, Albania, Brazil and Russia. Some missions will require partnering with other international Special Ops forces, including (Russian) Spetznaz and (British) SAS units. Utilizing the best weaponry available, players will have at their disposal all new weapons such as the AT-4 Light Armored apon, RPGs, machine gun turrets, shotguns and other tools to assure that victory is the only outcome.

In online mode via broadband gameplay, up to 16 players (eight per team) can create their own SEAL character profiles and join the fight to take down hostile forces in 22 different online missions (12 new SOCOM II online missions and ten updated, enhanced SOCOM online missions) with five different mission types including new Escort and Breach missions. Using a SOCOM-compatible headset, enhanced online communication enables team members to more easily communicate either in-game or in the game lobby while viewing the new "who's talking" display and use sub-channels for offensive and defensive gameplay strategy. Players can also use a friends' list to easily find their friends online and vie for the top position on the player and clan rankings board. Featuring interactive environments, the ability to call in air strikes and supporting artillery fire capabilities, detailed player stat tracking, a spectator mode and more, the online gameplay in SOCOM II is more robust and furious than ever.

"...there are so many details in the game that it almost comes to life... A near-perfect game." PSM Magazine

5 of 5 SOCOM II a must buy Wednesday, February 02, 2005

If you have any notion of what first person shooters are about then you can say that this is one of the top tier shooters around for the home console. If you require your fun to have lots of objectives and massive gun battles, then look no further than SOCOM II! This is the ultimate online experience for any fan of online games as well as the shooter fanatic (like myself). The only reason why you should get this game is because of its ONLINE capabilities. The single player experience is a good one but short lived and if you do not have broadband connections then you are really missing half the game. If however, you do have that connectivity then you MUST own this game. Clans, 22 maps (plus 3 downloadable with the HDD), tons of weapons and over 20,000 plus players on a nightly basis, makes this game the place to be. So dont miss out!

5 of 5 Its a Bunker Buster! Thursday, November 13, 2003
nemesisrune from Burlingame CA
I've tried Ghost Recon and Delta Force, but this game by far is the best yet out doing both games. Single player is very good. The ai is harder now and the team ai is smarter. The level's for single player were designed very good, there is more shurbs and things to hide behind. there is also bonus objectives and even secret objectives's. Online playing is better then the 1st one, there were some real improvements on the game for online, it not only runs smoother in game but the wepons are evened out now so nor the seals or terrorists have an advantage. The shotguns are a nice touch to it all. Great game to buy and a must have for anyone.

5 of 5 So you cant be a real navy seal? Wednesday, November 12, 2003

[SOCOM II: U.S. Navy Seals.] [Written By: Serge L.] [Email: bosrudorfer2@hotmail.com] [E-Seals Member Name: Serge L.] So solider you want to save the world and eliminate the worlds terrorists from the comfort of your home? Mom won’t let you join the real Navy Seals? Well cry no more and look no further than the newly released Socom II: U.S. Navy Seals from Sony Entertainment for the Playstation 2! If you ever played the first game or are a new recruit with better graphics, improved gameplay on and offline, new maps and weapons it will have old and new players excited........... You will get to command your squad of four through twelve intense missions. You’ll have to use your smarts and a equal balance of stealth and quick shooting to win. To complete this you’ll have a wide arsenal of weapons with 15 new weapons and will work in places like Albania, Algeria, Russia, Brazil, etc............ Did I mention you will be able to speak with your squad via the voice command headset which can be found in the first game or bought separately? And for those returning fans you will not have to worry about your close friend Boomer because he couldn’t make it, he is staying home sick, so you now have a more useful and intelligent guy called Jester............ The online part of the game only supports broadband but this removes almost all lag. You and 15 players will be able to fight on a map, with 8 per a team. there are 22 maps and 12 of them are fresh out of the oven............ All in all I can’t describe Socom II. It surely is one of the top Playstation 2 games online and off. With more maps, weapons, better gameplay, graphics, multiplayer gameplay, and tons more you should look into this for certain solider!

5 of 5 Much Better Than SOCOM #1 Tuesday, November 11, 2003
Kat from Ladera Ranch, CA
After playing SOCOM Navy Seals #1 - I was glad to hear that #2 was on the way. After playing this game for the past 2 weeks (on an advanced version) I was amazed how far the graphics and playability have come! Stealth operations were more advanced, weapon selection was better and difficulty were up! This game will be playable for a long time!
