I'm pretty good with computers, but installation of routers eludes me (color me a dummy). Slinglink allowed me simple multiple site connections to the Internet without the router. This really is plug and play. I took the Slinglink out of the box and plugged it into the wall and the modem. I plugged the second one to the wall and to the main home computer and it worked. I bought a second set, and took the third one to my office and plugged it up to the extension cord and to my laptop and it worked. The fourth one can go into another room. This is a great way to add an ethernet outlet anywhere in your house without having to rewire your house. It worked out of the box. The only complain I have is that if you want to add other brands of HomePlug products (not Sling) you have to get the software from the Sling Site. I feel they should have included the software with the product.
HomePlug technology has come a long way and if this product is a sample of what is possible with HomePlug, wireless better watch out! Was this review helpful?

This is a requirement if you are not plugging your Slingbox directly into your router. You must also have an available wall outlet, as it will not work if plugged into any type of extension cord. It is easy to set up but getting everything to work correctly, for me, took considerable time with customer service. They are excellent and patience, which lowered my frustration level and eventually we got everything up and running. Was this review helpful?

I ordered the Slinglink Turbo to replace a wireless gaming modem I was using with my Slingbox. The Turbo was easy to install and it immediately worked as advertised. The streaming rate doubled from what I got with the wireless modem.I have been using it and the Slingbox to watch Directv from Scottsdale,Az on my laptop in Tokyo.I also purchased the Slingbox from Buy.Com. I also have to add that Buy.com customer service is great! The first unit sent was defective and they immediately exchanged it without question. Truly a Plug n Play item. The little Sling Link works right out of the box. Nothing to do but connect it and start using it. I use it with my Sling Box Classic, but it should work with just about any device one wants to connect to a router port without the necessity of wires running all over the house. An inexpensive solution to get internet access to a room without wireless or wires stapled to your walls. I find that the Sling Turbo works fine for surfing the net, albeit much slower than my computer with a direct connection. I wouldn't use for on-line gaming or other heavy content. Even loading my homepage can take 10 seconds. I use Amazon unbox and the downloads take about twice as long as normal. Very easy to set up and does what it promises.
