Album Notes and Credits

Notes & Personnel Info
SINGS ARLEN & BERLIN was originally released as two separate CDs: SINGS THE MUSIC OF HAROLD ARLEN (1983)/SINGS THE MUSIC OF IRVING BERLIN (1984).
Personnel: Rosemary Clooney (vocals); Scott Hamilton (tenor saxophone); Warren Vache (trumpet, cornet); Dave McKenna, John Oddo (piano); Ed Bickert, Chris Flory (guitar); Steve Wallace, Phil Flanigan (bass); Jake Hanna, Gus Johnson (drums).
Recorded at McClear Place, Toronto, Canada and Mastermind Sound Studios, New York, New York in January 1983 & June 1984. Originally released on Concord (4210) & Concord (4255).
This two-fer collects a pair of Rosemary Clooney's songbook tributes from the early '80s, recorded for the Concord label. Each of them gives her the opportunity to interpret the music of a great composer with a superior sextet that features cornetist Warren Vache, tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton, and guitarist Ed Bickert. Clooney sounds very enthusiastic and swings lightly on such songs as "Hooray for Love," "Ding Dong the Witch Is Dead," "My Shining Hour," "Be Careful, It's My Heart," "Cheek to Cheek," and "Stormy Weather." ~ Scott Yanow

Producer: Carl E. Jefferson
