| | Professional Reviews | The DVD Report 10 of 10 As the longest running animated show in history, and the longest running prime-time show of any type, The Simpsons is an American treasure - a combination of humor, wit, and satire that examines not just the lives of its eccentric characters, but also the society, culture, and world in which we live. Fun for adults and children alike, The Simpsons is a cutting edge television comedy that, like Seinfeld, altered the television landscape in the 1990's by dictating a new genre of TV fun that spawned network investment in new animated series such as King of the Hill, Futurama, and The Family Guy...Like all new things which smash the paradigm of life, The Simpsons is unrivaled by its knockoffs, and the show doesn't show signs of slowing down. - Britt Gillette

4 of 5 Great season Friday, August 29, 2003 Derek Jensen from Bremen, Indiana
Much like season 1, season 2 is a great collection of episodes but accompanied by few extras. There are commentaries and a few animation examples and foreign language clips, but no behind-the-scenes footage, games, etc. like you might find on a Disney DVD.
The animators and voice actors really hit their stride, with full characterizations and great stories. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 One of the best seasons Friday, August 29, 2003 Derek Jensen from Bremen, Indiana
With new and cleverly-animated menus, this is the best Simpsons boxed set yet. The extras are still meager, but the third-season episodes are some of the best the show has produced, including ones in which we meet Krusty's father, see Bart join Fat Tony's mob, watch the Flaming Moe become a hit drink, and see Homer become a country singer's manager.
The producers still haven't figured out a good way to present the extras for each episode, so the menus are still a bit of a maze. Look for a few hidden commentary tracks by Al Jean. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Season 2 is the best so far! Saturday, August 10, 2002 Dave from Merrimack, NH
The Simpsons Complete Season Two is a significant improvement over Season One. Not only are the episodes better, but the production of the DVDs seems more professional, including fully animated chapter selections.
The best Simpsons DVDs yet. Can't wait for Season 3 ... and 4 ... and ... Was this review helpful?

9 of 9 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Season 2... current trends begin! Sunday, May 19, 2002 Tim Fennell from Rochester, NY
As any true Simpsonite knows, Season 1 was spent largely on discovering, fine-tuning and polishing the characters we now know and love. At first the show centered on Bart's anti-heroic ways, but in the Second Season, it finally started focusing more on Homer's bumbling and sheer idiocy. Even his character differs from the Homer of the first season (he was originally far more mean-spirited than dim-witted). If you love the present-day Simpsons, you will adore the second season. After purchasing the first season on DVD from BUY.COM,
I will be very excited to see what the second season has in store. My memory is a little fuzzy,
so I am sure I will see episodes which will bring back fond memories. Anyone who enjoys comedy should own this DVD set. Was this review helpful?
