This drive works great with my Mac. At first I thought I had to settle for FAT formatting because the Mac instructions that came with the drive left out a few essential steps to format it in the superior Mac OS Extended format. Here's what the instructions leave out: In Disk Utility, BEFORE erasing the volume go to the "Partition" tab, add the drive using the "+" button, set the format for Mac OS Extended (Journaled), click the "Options" button and set the options for your Mac. After I partitioned the drive that way, I could select all the formatting options without error. The drive is quick and silent and stays cool. I highly recommend this SimpleDrive. Thus far, there isn't one complaint about the brand. I believe I've owned the hard drive for perhaps three weeks or so and it hasn't disappointed. The device isn't noisy as a previous hard drive I owned and that's a major plus for someone who has owned over four external hard drives.

Drive works fine but can't tell if it's still running once the computer is turned off. Sometimes drive takes a while to get access due to it probably being in sleep mode. Was this review helpful?

Bought this product for my daughter to use for her burgeoning collection of digital media, and she was very happy with it. Plugged the USB connection in, the PC recognized it, and bingo, 1 TB of storage. Extremely fast, too -- large files just fly onto the drive. Did not try the included backup software, but was pleased that it was not intrusive -- it doesn't try to install itself when you start up the drive. Was this review helpful?

I hooked this baby up to my Mac and partitioned it to 500/500gb. I use the first partition for Time Machine and the second just to get the crap I download off the Mac.
It's not as loud as some people have said. The light is not bright so it's not distracting.

This USB hard drive is very easy to install. The software is already loaded on it. I installed it on a PC with XP Windows in about five minutes. Finding a USB port on the back of my tower took the most time. I transferred all my picture and video files. I have been able to retrieve them from the drive with no problem. We use these drives strictly for archival purposes and they work great... The shell is very attractive but doesn't seem to be constructed as solid as other external USB drives... but for the money this still gets a 5. Was this review helpful?

After a major crash in December, I decided to be more careful with backups so I bought this drive to backup the 4 computers on my network. It will do incremental backups to save time and keep the data up to date. With 1TB it has plenty of room to store anything and everything.
The software that comes with it could be improved, but it will do the job. It is a good value. Was this review helpful?
