I bought this to replace my previous External HD which had broken. The jump from 70 GB to 500 GB was pretty cool. The unit works very well. It is extremely quiet, which was a surprise to me, and also does not get hugely hot. It seems to have a really decent cooling system. The only downside to this product, is it does need an external power source, so you have to lug around a power cord when you move it anywhere. But that is a minor issue, and has nothing to do with the unit as it is designed. All in all, a very useful piece of equipment.

Had the harddrive out of the box and my 60 gigs of data backed up with very little effort. This is my first external hard drive and I had no problems using the Simpletech drive.

The Drive overheats and the you have to let it cool down to use. otherwise it is a good product fast and easy to use.

3 of 5 Needs to be restarted on PC reboot Tuesday, August 28, 2007

This installs and works very well, however, if you reboot your PC it doesn't reinstall itself in the list of drives. This is acknowledged by SimpleTech as how it should work. Might not be a problem unless like me you have it on a network and the mappings keep getting lost.
