Shredmaster PlayStation 2 Wireless Guitar for Guitar Hero & Rock Band - DGPN-532

I bought this guitar to play with my new Aerosmith version of Guitar Hero (PS2). I did not like the "pot bellied, long neck" Kramer guitar that came with the game. I am a woman with small fingers and a small reach. The 2 tiered buttons are awesome! I can play so much better with this guitar. It is lightweight and ergonomically correct. The rechargable battery stays charged for a very long time. A couple of things - The strum bar is a little noisy. Also,the Whammy bar will not work with the Aerosmith version, but works well with Guitar Hero 1, 2, snd 3. The Whammy bar works on the Aerosmith version with my other guitar. ???

I just received a replacement unit for this controller after the first unit exhibited erratic Star Power behavior... sometimes Star Power couldn't be invoked, no matter how hard you tilted the guitar neck upward, and sometimes the guitar invoked Star Power all by itself the second you had built up enough energy. Hard to have great scores when you have no control over Star Power. The replacement unit I just received exhibits the exact same problem. There appears to be a design defect in this controller. It used twin mercury switches to measure tilt rather than a legitimate tilt sensor as seen in other controllers. I'm giving it two stars because the fret feel is awesome, the strum bar is great (nice light effect, too), and the rechargeable battery built-in is nice. The guitar is also lightweight and well proportioned. However, the Star Power problem ruins this guitar.

I originally purchased another wireless controller for my niece’s GH2. I wanted to have two wireless controllers so I originally bought two of the same one (the red octane white wireless controller). One worked great the other never received a signal. After returning the bad one, I thought I would try this one out. I loved the fact that it was wired and wireless, so I figured I could use it either way. I connected it, and it was charged within 15 minutes (while I was playing). I unplugged it and kept playing away. No problems. Both button sets work great and the glowing strum bar is cool. The strum bar is a little loud and sounds squeaky (and it can start to aggravate you if you let it), but it works great. “Star power” works quickly and easily every time. My niece has to shake the other guitar but this one, a simple lift and power away. I’ve had it now for several weeks without any problems. And…it’s compatible with GH3 as well.
