Former Ronette Ronnie Spector has had a long yet uneven career since the girl group effectively disbanded in the mid-1960s, after her marriage to its producer and Svengali figure, Phil Spector. This late-1990s offering finds her still in good voice over three decades later, on a set that features "Bye Bye Baby," one of the last recordings of the legendary punk rock singer, Joey Ramone, before his death in 2001. In a further nod to the New York punk scene to which she was an icon, Spector also covers Johnny Thunders' "You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory," giving it a surprisingly poignant reading, and, acknowledging her '60s roots, revisits Brian Wilson's classic "Don't Worry Baby."
Ronnie Spector, legendary former lead singer of The Ronettes, is the voice behind such hits as "Walkin' in the Rain," "Baby I Love You," "The Best Part of Breaking Up," "Do I Love You," and "Be My Baby." The only American vocalist once backed up by all four Beatles, she also recorded with Jimi Hendrix, Alice Cooper, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, and Eddie Money. Through the two decades preceding this release, Spector was busy with TV appearances, cable specials, a solo album, and her autobiography, Be My Baby: How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirts, and Madness. This survivor is then resurfaces on indie rock label Kill Rock Stars. This 1999 release was her first solo album since 1987. The EP is produced by Daniel Rey (Ramones, White Zombie, Misfits) and Joey Ramone; it includes a Joey Ramone song, a duet with Joey, and a Johnny Thunders tune. Also on She Talks to Rainbows is her first ever recording of "Don't Worry Baby," written for her by Brian Wilson. ~ Tom Schulte

Artist Overview
Led by the inimitable Ronnie Spector, the Ronettes embodied all that was cool about the girl-group aesthetic and all that was brilliant about their producer Phil Spector's Wall of Sound approach. As the performers of such awe-inspiring hits as "Be My Baby" and "Baby I Love You," the Ronettes left a mark on pop music as indelible and iconic as the work of any band of the era. Although they resurfaced in various configurations after their collaboration with Spector came to a close, Ronnie and her girls never reached the creative and commercial heights they attained in the mid 1960s. A touching late-'90s collaboration with Joey Ramone reignited Ronnie Spector's career, and she continued to perform as a solo artist well into the 2000s.
