Bushnell''s "New York Times" bestseller that launched the HBO series that became a cultural phenomenon celebrates it''s tenth anniversary and is now available in mass-market paperback.

Annotation:
A collection from Candace Bushnell's regular "New York Observer" column, "Sex and the City". In her witty and sometimes brutally candid style, Bushnell introduces us to the young and beautiful who travel in packs from parties to bars to clubs. There is "Carrie," the quintessential troubled young writer looking for love in all the wrong places, "Mr. Big," the business tycoon who drifts from one meaningless relationship to another, and "Samantha Jones," the 40ish movie producer who epitomizes a whole generation of women who know only too well the fleeting nature of youth and beauty--not to mention the "Modelizers" who date and bed only the photogenic, the neurotic "Psycho Moms" who spoil and suffocate their only children, and the aging "Bicycle Boys" who cling to their transitory mode of transport and their knapsacks for dear life.

Praise
Kirkus
"Often funny and occasionally bleak, this is a captivating look at the 'Age of Un-Innocence,' in a city which the glittering diversions don't quite make up for the fact that 'Cupid has flown the coop.'" 06/01/1996

Philadelphia Inquirer
"...Bushnell has picked an inherently fascinating milieu to chronicle....We are interested in [these people] precisely because they feel comfortable at Bowery Bar and in Aspen, and we don't." - Erica Marcus 08/25/1996

People
"Sly...sharp...'Sex and the City' succeeds."

Literary Review
"[A] collection of witty and satisfying short stories based on her column. It is a wry, sociological study of that compelling yet repulsive breed: the rich, spoilt and shallow..." - Anna Pasternak February 1997
