XXL (Magazine) (p.152) - "Slim kicks things off with the hypnotic solo 'We Boss Hoggin', where he injects some H-town swag into Pac's 1995 track 'Str8 Ballin'."Rolling Stone 4 of 10 Slim Thug, who established himself by doggedly building a mix-tape empire in Houston, is back to promote another enterprise, his Boss Hogg Outlawz label. Don't expect a real follow-up to Slim's official 2005 debut, Already Platinum -- this is a wildly uneven showcase for artists on the label. The top prospect, PJ, rips it up on "Pockets Full of Paper," with colorful couplets playing on his more famous colleagues' songs ("Like 50 Cent/I'm-a die tryin'. . . . Haters got me so/Sick like Ne-Yo"), and Sir Daily gets appropriately nasty on "I'm a Hogg," bragging about his excesses to a grimy, grinding synth loop. But R&B cuts like Rob Smallz's "Cheatin" are a disaster; Slim's label could be in trouble unless he rhymes on every track. - Evan Serpick
