5 of 5 Good product Saturday, April 18, 2009 A Customer from Arizona
I bought a new toy: the Netbook Asus EeePC 1000HE, and dump the 5400rpm and "only" 160 gig hard drive for this 7200 rpm and 320gig. I am happy overall with this product, but feel unhappy that I can't find the bigger size: 500 gig. I checked everywhere from Bestbuy, to Buy.com to NewEgg.com, none of them have the 500gig. Just wonder why Seagate does not produce more of this 500 gig size to meet the demand of consumer?

5 of 5 Great performance and Huge capacity Friday, April 17, 2009 Gene from Endicott, NY
I upgraded from an 80 GB 5400 RPM drive to this 320 GB 7200 RPM drive (ST9320421ASG) and have noticed a jump in performance. This laptop boots from the end of the post to login in under 1 minute. Raw sequential I/O is about 3 times faster than the previous drive and competes with all but the newest desktop drives that I have at my office. Power consumption went up by about a 1/2 watt.
At the same time I upgraded to 4GiB of RAM and run Linux (x64 kernel) plus 2 Windows XP VMs on this system with no issues.
The Zero-G sensor adds an extra piece of mind that if I accidentally shock/drop the laptop, the data will survive.
I originally was considering the Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500GB with Zero-G sensor (ST9500420ASG) but it's still not available after over 2 months of waiting. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works great on a Macbook Saturday, April 11, 2009 Afzal from Villa Park, IL
I bought this Seagate momentus drive to upgrade the 120g 5400 rpm stock drive which came with my Macbook. So far it works great, it seems a little faster than the old one. I'd initially bought a WD scorpio 7200rpm 320g drive, which I returned coz it made a beeping sound at startup. This drive is highly recommended. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very fast, quiet, and cool Wednesday, March 11, 2009 A Customer from NJ
Replaced the Hitachi 80GB in my Dell D620 for this drive. I'm getting more than twice the throughput (over 80MB/s) and I can barely hear the drive operating. It also doesn't get hot like my old drive, making the laptop more comfortable to use (processor still gets hot, of course). Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 This is a very fast and quiet drive Monday, February 23, 2009 A Customer from New York, NY
I thought this drive worked great and the performance was definitely as advertised. The laptop sped up noticibly after transplanting this into it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best Laptop SATA Drive Friday, January 30, 2009 Stork from Lisle, IL
I used Seagate's 80GB, 100GB, 120GB, 160GB, and 250GB before getting this 320GB 7200RPM with G-Force Protection, this is the best drive you can have. Quiet and fast. Look no further, this is the one you need. I run a PC service company - LislePCHelp.com. I service so many clients, Seagate is the one brand I would buy for hard drives. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great Drive Sunday, December 28, 2008 A Customer from Oak Park, MI
I did a lot of research on notebook drives overall before buying this. I looked at stuff on the technical sites and I looked at the reviews of the product on other sites offering the product (you now know which site had the better price). One of the things that convinced me is the fact that most of the reviewers recommended this product after acknowledging that other similar products were edged out by this one not only in their research but in their personal experiences. I have not had any issues with the driving getting hot or being noisy at all. It is VERY quiet and gets a little warm (just as my 5400 RPM did). One tip - make sure that your controller supports a SATA II hard drive or you will not get all the benefits of this drive. Also, if your notebook comes with bloatware you will not see a huge increase in speed either - but I have seen enough to make me happy with my purchase. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Momentus 7200.3 ST9320421ASG Hard Drive Tuesday, December 16, 2008 Sergiy from Lakeville, MN
Great Drive. Big and qiuck. Install it into my HP DV5000T with no problems!!! Make less noise and less heat than my old Hitachi 80Gb. Works great, Win XP loading twice as faster than before, but you still can hear tiny ticking. And I dont know how to activate "free fall Agent", or I dont even know how to test it. It was sent to me in a very nice and safe box. So thank you Buy.com for this great drive... Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Blazingly fast, a bit warm and loud Sunday, November 23, 2008 -jeffB from Durham, NC
This is one of the fastest laptop drives currently available, but it does run a bit warm (not hot), and it makes a noticeable rushing noise when spinning. Seek noise is not especially noticeable. I bought this to replace the stock internal drive in an early-2008 MacBook Pro (not a great do-it-yourself project). I tested it extensively in a Mac Pro before installation, and got transfer speeds of 80MB/s in the innermost 10% of the drive, 60-70MB/s across most of the middle, and 45-50MB/s in the outermost (slowest) 10% of the drive. I ended up formatting the first 100GB for a high-performance OS and user partition, the middle 70GB for general-purpose use, the next 60 GB for photos and other large editable content, and the last 70GB for media files that don't demand high transfer rates. It's much speedier than my stock drive; definitely good bang for the buck. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Fast 320GB Hard Drive Saturday, November 22, 2008 Drew from Arizona
Great drive! Boot times and transfer speeds are noticeably faster. Popped it into my HP DV5T with no problems -- reinstalled windows and it booted right up. My temperatures with HWMonitor are ~5C cooler than my previous 5400RPM drive at idle, but it will heat up a little bit when transferring large files (but that is expected with a 7200RPM drive). Also, it is extremely quite -- I have only heard it accessing when the room is dead silent. There is a great review on tomshardware.com with comparable drives, and they chose the Momentus over WD Scorpio; so check that out if you are still trying to decide. Also Anyone with an HP, this drive does work with HP Pocketsmart Protection. Fast shipping and great price Buy.com! Was this review helpful?

Working great so far in my PS3 (was 40GB). I have entirely too much space now. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Speed makes a difference, noise is non-existant Saturday, November 08, 2008 Greg from San Diego, CA
I bought this for a couple reasons: I needed more space, I needed the speed increase because I am trying out full disk encryption and wanted to counter the speed decrease caused by decrypting the information (not sure if it really is slower or not with encryption enabled,) and my old drive was a little louder than I thought it should be. Installation was easy for me, I have a White MacBook. This thing does run real quiet, the only way I hear any noise if I put my ear to the laptop right where the drive is located. Surprisingly my computer does not get hot around the hard drive, I really thought a faster RPM drive would produce a lot of heat. I would recommend this drive at this price (around $100) because you can buy a slower drive for less, but why would you want to when you can have 7200RPM's? Oh ya, I have not noticed a battery decrease after installing this, I seem to get around the same time on battery as my old 5400RPM drive. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent hard drive Saturday, October 25, 2008 William from Clinton, SC
Wanting to replace a 160GB Hitachi hard disk, I did my research and settled on this Seagate Momentus 320GB drive. I downloaded and installed DiscWizard from Seagate's site, put the Momentus hard disk in the new Coolmax enclosure, cloned the Hitachi drive onto the Seagate Momentus, then put the new Seagate in my HP Pavilion notebook, and everything worked well. The computer automatically downloaded a driver for the volume control, but there were no issues at all.
The drive runs about the same temperature as the slower (5400rpm) Hitachi it replaced, though it retrieves data with more speed. Was this review helpful?
