Replaced a Toshiba drive with this Seagate, and took Norton 360 off at the same time. The combination makes the computer much faster. No complaints about the drive, and installation is easy.

This drive is a great deal for any powerbook/ibook g4 model. It is very quiet and speedy. It's much better than the stock drives apple used. Shipped fast in two days from CA.

Installed into a Toshiba Tecra 550CDT in 15 minutes. Installed Windows XP and Linux (dual-boot). Both Windows and Linux come up fine. Nice to have lots of space (160GB) compared to original 40GB. Drive is quiet. I've burned it in for a few days. Very satisfied. Note that this OEM (drive only), not the retail package.

I have always purchased Seagate hard drives, well, because they have been around for a while and it's probably just out of habit. No complaints about their mechanisms, other than the few that failed. Since I have nothing else to compare them to [experience-wise], it's not to say that other brands are fail-proof. However, I have decided to try Hatachi drives the next time I need an internal mechanism, that way I can something to base a comparison on.

I purchased this drive to replace a 40 Gig in an older Compaq P3005US and Wow I can't believe how quiet it is now. In fact the 3005 is quieter than my newer HP DV6775US!There were no issues during installation I used the same jumper setting as the old drive (CS). I ordered the original Compaq re-installation CD's from HP they have them in archive and available through a separate vendor. If you are upgrading an older Notebook make sure that the existing hardware is still viable for a few more years and if it is, this is indeed the drive to get!

Previous reviews steered me clear of WD. After two weeks all is great. Quiet and quick. I just wish higher capacity was offered in PATA. Shipping was incredibly fast for free.

I purchased this hard drive to replace 20GB one (a little bit small) in my DELL 700m laptop. It works perfectly so far. It definitely deserves its price. During my installing, it accidently drops from about 0.6m high onto the carpet floor. But it still works flawless.

I purchased two of these (ATA) Seagate units, primarily because they utilize the perpendicular recording technology, and carry a 5 year warranty. The first HDD was a replacement for an Apple iBook,and the speed increase in the iBook was immediately evident over the stock unit. The new unit appears to run as cool or cooler than the stock unit. The second HDD was purchased as a backup/clone for the iBook, and resides in a Macally PHR-250cc enclosure. The enclosure (aluminum) gets warm, but that's proof that the aluminum is working as it should, as a heat sink. I've owned the first HDD for 7 mos. and the second for 1 mo. Both Seagates are quiet and have thus far given me absolutely no reason to be dissatisfied or concerned. The prices I paid were within $4.00 of each other and with free shipping were a deal when compared with other retailers and other comparable brands of HDD's. These prices even beat the auction sites. I am very satisfied with these purchases and would highly recommend them.

Good price, a breeze to install on my HP zd7000 which had a crashed 80gb Toshiba drive. System seems to actually be running faster now bumping up from 4800 to 5400. A clean OS install of course doesn't hurt. My system use to chug accessing data, now it just pauses. If you have a Ultra ATA/100 laptop, give it some new extended life with this drive. Seagate is a good name, I expect to get at least another 3 years out of it. All we need now is a Ultra ATA/100 7200 rpm laptop drive.

This hard drive is such a bargain. It is easy to set-up, load, and use. It runs extremely fast and is very quiet. What more can you ask for. I recommend it to anyone. Can't even find a cheaper one on eBay.

I am still baffled at how inexpensive this drive is. It is quiet, cool, quite quick...and talk about a great price! I love Seagate's technology on these drives for efficient access without as much wear and tear on the drives also. I have been a computer consultant for 23 years and I have bought three of these drives now because I can't think of a reason not too. Until SSD drives become "real", I consider these to be the current great value.

Hard drive was delivered in less than 2 days using the cheapest method. Drive seems to be operating as advertised and was exceptionally easy to install and set up. No problems at all with this product. Would definitely recommend.

I used this drive with Apricorn's EZ Upgrade kit and it worked great. Went from 60GB to 160GB and the drive works great.

It's obviously faster than my Toshiba 4200rpm drive. The best thing is the 5-year warranty, if that's true. Too bad we're stuck in the ATA world, since SATA drives are even faster and cheaper.

The Drive fit perfectly in to my computer. It formatted without any delays or trouble. I was able to install all of my programs and it runs great. If I need to buy another Drive in the future, I will look here first.

I used it in my Fujitsu Lifebook. It's a nice hard drive and Seagate is a named brand for hard drive so I preferred it. Not any issues till now in last 2 months, no noice good speed, that is what we want. I want to add the comments on shipping, I took free shipping method (6-8) days. I received the hard drive the next day I ordered, isn't it surprising. Probably they might have the shipping center next to my home.

I bought the Seagate to replace my Hitachi 7200 RPM hard drive and surprisingly, it works as fast as the Hitachi. I guess there's more to fast access than just spin speed. ie: seek time ... The Seagate is dead quiet and excellent value.

I replaced my old 40gb hard drive with the Seagate Momentus 5400.3. It is much faster than the old Hitachi Travelstar, even though the specs are similar (other than the capacity.) The new hard drive also comes with a 5-year warranty, can't beat that!

I have purchased numerous Seagate drives in different form factors and interfaces and have not had any issues. I bought this one based on reviews and my previous experience. I was not disappointed. It is a quiet drive and going on 43 days of trouble free use. The drive is not the fastest when reading the specifications, but I have not seen any performance issues. It seems to me to be very snappy. The 5 year warranty is hard to beat as well. I will continue to buy Seagate drives.

I had to replace my laptop hard drive due to a crashing caused by my cat (grrr). I installed this new one (with 3x the size of my old) with great ease and it works perfect. I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was for the size of the hard drive. Buy.com shipped it fast!

This notebook OEM drive is for my Ximeta Media Share Mini. I can trasfer up to 18 to 20 DVD-9 files and watch on TV. The other 2 possible uses are to make my own USB drive or upgrade notebook to a bigger hard drive.

I installed this in January 07, and have never had a problem since. It's great to have so much space on my laptop. I recommend getting the Universal EZ HDD Upgrade Kit to make the upgrade incredibly easy. (product # 10343781)

While there isn't any gain in speed (access might actually be a little slower than the 80 GB drive I previously had in my 12 inch PowerBook G4), having twice the drive capacity allows me to have all of my GarageBand loops, music, pictures and movies with me all of the time. Replacing the drive in the laptop wasn't as hard as people make it out to be online -- the hardest part was getting the function keys back on the keyboard. Overall, I got exactly what I expected with this drive: twice the capacity at roughly the same access time.

I bought this as a second drive for my Notebook computer (used instead of the optical drive with a bay adaptor) and it just works beautiful so far... I had a 80gig 7200 drive in there before, but it doesn't even seem to be much slower. It's also virtually silent, which is another nice feature.
