5 of 5 reliable Saturday, September 03, 2005 A Customer from seattle washington
This is an OEM drive in brown box, but packaged exceedingly well. The drive is so quite I cannot hear it, even in external enclosure 2 feet away. It is also close to 1/4" thinner than earlier drives. I had to opt for reliablity over storage space, even if an 80gb maxtor could be had for $4 more, the platters get too thin and too many with high capacity drives. These Maxtors simply never fail even under great abuse. I expect it to last over 15 years based on past experience. Was this review helpful?

While I have so far had no problems with the Drive itself, the drive came with no instructions, no mounting screws and no software. I would avoid this drive unless you really know what you are doing. And you will have to download formatting software from Maxtor. Once installed, the drive performs perfectly and is a great value. Was this review helpful?
