5 of 5 Best of Both Worlds! 4/9/2010
Tom from Atlanta, GA
What happens when you combine the World’s thinnest portable drive with Muvee Reveal software? You get the best of both worlds!
***Special edition Seagate Free Agent Go loaded with Muvee Reveal software!***
I just purchased the Seagate Free Agent GO Ultra-Portable drive (500 GB) and absolutely love it. The first drive I ever purchased over 10 years ago was a Seagate and I’ve remained a loyal fan ever since. Consistent quality and innovation keep me coming back.
Small on size, but big on storage, the Seagate Free Agent Go drive is a small 4.72 in long x 3.15 inches wide to be exact. (And just .49†thick) I plugged the drive into both of my PCs (running both XP and Windows 7) and the installation software on the drive guided me through the simple setup. I also installed Muvee Reveal (contained on this drive) and I highly suggest you do. Muvee Reveal will change your life! I plugged in a couple of backup Seagate drives loaded with pictures and added about 100 of them to Muvee Reveal. Just 2 more steps to make your muvee!
Next I selected my music, and decided on one of the 10 pre-included styles which range from simple vanilla, smooth transitions to pulsing and thumping to the beat of the music, all perfectly synched. Imagine, your images on screen with pans, zooms, fades, dissolves and more special effects all set to music. Brilliant!! You can even add titles and credits! I made a muvee of our friends daughter in just 15 minutes! And with direct upload to Facebook and YouTube, you can share your home movies easily with friends and family. Or burn to DVD. What an amazing surprise and great gift for any occasion.
In conclusion, the Seagate Free Agent Go drive is truly “ultra portableâ€Â, easy to use, durable, reliant, and includes Muvee Reveal software (which would normally cost about $80.00!!!) Look for specially marked Seagate units when making your purchase. I gave this Seagate drive to my dad who takes tons of pictures and doesn’t know what to do with them all. Finally, something besides a tie for Fathers Day!
Pros:
-World’s thinnest portable drive and compact cable so easy to transport.
-No bulky external power supply needed, just connect with usb cable and GO!
-Automatic backup software to easily protect data with included Seagate Management software.
-Powerful Encryption technology to keep important files and folders private.
-File Synchronization ensures you always have current versions of your files.
-Optional “FreeAgent Go Dock†allows for easy docking w/out cables!
-Smart Power Management saves energy and is Green for environment!
-5 year limited warranty.
-Variety of colors to choose from including Silver, Black, Red, and Blue.
-Sizes 250GB, 320GB, 500GB, 640GB, 750GB, 1TB
-Works with Windows 7
Con:
-usb cable may be too short for some. (But compact length easy to transport.)

5 of 5 A great compact Removeable Drive 4/30/2009
Harry Mason from Alameda, CA
It's fabulous. I have had over 20 removeable Hard Drives over the years and invariably they fail. I have had Buslink and Maxtor fail. La Cie never failed and my recent favorite was their 320G "Rugged" drive that worked flawlessly, but was bulky.
I had a Toshiba slim drive, but the USB socket on the drive was too large for the provided cable and the drive would start and stop with a tiny jiggle... not good.
I now have two 500G Seagate Freeagent Go drives and they are awesome. One is for daily backup and the other is for a weekly second backup in case the first ever fails.
And... it only requires one USB cable (some drives require two)

5 of 5 The easiest thing I've done in a while 4/22/2009
Taylor from Walker basin, ca
This has to be the easiest thing I have bought and used on my laptop ever!! I would pretty much call it plug n play. I bought it to put all my music and pics on. I wanted portability cause I often lug my laptop with me places and because my husband and I both use different computers both with iTunes. He used to draw all his music off my hard drive via home network, now I just hand him my hard drive!
I have plugged this into 4 different computers - 2 running vista and 2 running xp. None of them had any problems detecting or using the hard drive.
I was able to transfer 70gb of music (roughly 12,000 songs) and about 10gb of pics (roughly 5000-6000 pics) in about 2 hours. Now backing up and transferring files is a quick millisecond kind of thing that I do weekly.
My virus program also has no problems scanning my seagate - I use kaspersky.
The hdd is not much bigger than my iPhone so portability is truely no prob!!!
I have recommended this hdd to all my friends and family, it's an awesome product for a steal of a price!!

I got a great price on this drive. It arrived very quickly. It was easy to install and use. I'm very happy with this purchase. I've moved my pictures off my computer onto this drive to free up space, it worked great!

5 of 5 Exceeded my Expectations 3/16/2009
Brian from Granby, Connecticut
Very pleased with this drive (I bought two in black). One to handle my music and pictures. The other for movies. I wanted the size to handle a variety of entertainment choices while traveling. Also for backing up my laptop. They've plug-n-play'd on a couple of different machines with no trouble at all. No power issues like some of these USB powered drives can have. These drives are slimmer than the prior models. I don't think it is my imagination, but they seem to be very fast. Much faster than the WD Passport 120 I had been using. The two drives fit nicely into a single case I had for a 2.5 enclosure. The "breathing" lights can be considered cool or creepy. Been using them for a few weeks now and love them.

4.7 of 5 good buy 2/16/2009
from Bellevue, WA
I have owned and used this drive for 3 months now without any issues. It simply works. I tried it on six different computers and laptops - some old, some new - it works on all of them. It works on USB 1.0 as well with no issues. Overall, it performs very well. And 5 year warranty gives you ease of mind. Highly recommended.
