I have had at least 12 different external hard drives over the years. Everything from a 30Gig Buslink to this 500 Gig Seagate (465 useable Gigs). The technology has finally come together with a very large capacity in a very small package. (It's a little larger than an iPhone.)
I've used it daily for over two weeks working on massive Photoshop files 100 to 200Mb. It seems fast even though it's 5400 not 7200 like some smaller capacity drives.
It only needs 1 USB port, unlike some drives that require 2, one for data and one for additional power. You can purchase an external stand/dock, but I don't see the point, if you are using this for portability with a laptop. The stand/dock is just more stuff to carry around.
In the past I have had several external hard drives fail unexpectedly, so, I purchased 2 of these and use one as a backup for the other. Was this review helpful?

amazing product. this is the smallest and the lightest harddrive i have ever seen, and it has 500GB for the price it is for, its absolutely amazing, oh and on top of it unlike my older seagate hdd this only uses one usb, this doesnt take one for power and one for the data transfer, its all in one...
