I wanted a small hard drive for my Macintosh laptop as a target disk for Apple's Time Machine backup software. The FreeAgent Go drive works perfectly for this. Due to a medical condition, I spend most of my personal computer time propped up in bed with a portable desktop underneath the laptop. The hard drive is powered through its short (18") firewire interface cable and sits behind my laptop. I leave it pretty much permanently connected and let Time Machine do its thing. It's been no trouble at all to set up and run, soo I'm quite satisfied.
