Needed a dedicated TM drive for an iMac. The price is great for fast drive with FW800 connectivity. Took it out of the box, plugged it in, connected the FW and everything just worked! This drive is super quiet and the lighting is very cool. It is installed in an office setting where clients come in for meetings and I'm sure it will get many comments as has the beautiful iMac on which is shares desk space. Nice job Seagate. I have a G5 iMac, connected the hard drive via Firewire and it was recognized immediately and ready for file backup. I mainly use it for media storage and am often transferring large files (700 mb - 1 gig). The transfer rate is pretty good using firewire (about 30 seconds for a 700 mb file). I have an new iMac and Airport Express Hub also connected to a XP PC. This is an excellent choice for a backup HD for both. Just plug it in, connect to Firewire or USB and its internal software automatically sets up the HD. Works with Time Machine and when connected to a hub, as an icon on your Windows Desktop to drag backup items. Was this review helpful?
