This 1 TB drive has plenty of room for all my stuff. I'm backing up three computers. External hard drives aren't new. The bundled software (Seagate manager) makes it easy to have the backup select your documents and pictures even if they are in different places. It's formatted loaded and ready to go Was this review helpful?

This is a great backup product. Inexpensive, fast, huge amount of storage, great warrenty. Comes with backup software on the drive. Simple USB installation. Wish I'd had one years ago BEFORE my hard drive died! Since I have multiple PCs, I got a 2nd one to protect my other ones. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Drive So Far Friday, March 20, 2009 A Customer from Hamilton, OH
I've owned this drive for about 3 weeks now with no complaints - using it as an external backup for my Playstation 3. I chose to go with the Seagate 1 TB as no other manufacturer offers a 5 year warranty and Seagate drives have always proven reliable for me in the past. I still have the very first seagate I bought - 500 MB drive. Still works fine. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Nice product Sunday, March 15, 2009 Rich from Chicago, IL
I'm using this drive to back up 4 computers. The drive was very easy to set up, just plug it in, install the software and away you go. This drive was $8 more expensive than a drive I was originally looking at but this one came with the backup software. Glad I went with this drive. I just backed up a computer for the 2nd time and it took maybe 60 seconds, only backing up any additional files and files that had changed. Great product. Was this review helpful?

This is a GREAT deal. It took less than 5 minutes to get the drive up and running, less than 5 minutes to install the backup software, and less than 5 minutes to complete the first backup. How simple is that? Only problems are: 1) email systems don't store their data in "My Documents". You'll have to figure out where yours goes and point the software to that directory (Thunderbird saves email in "Application Data". Don't know about Outlook.). You may have other applications like that or you may store important stuff elsewhere. Second, my computer had two Windows users and the doc doesn't explain how to back up both. You must install the backup software on one user, setup a backup "plan", then log onto the other user, install the software again, and then edit the plan and add the 2nd "My Documents". Then it does both users. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great drive Sunday, January 25, 2009 A Customer from Laurinburg, NC
This is a great drive. I have used it with both XP pro and Vista and had no problems with either. I have not used the backup software that came with the drive because I have not needed it but I kept it for future use. Transfer rate is excelent. Will look for this drive or the larger version if I ever need another. With the warrenty on this drive, you can't go wrong. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Product Thursday, January 22, 2009 Oldoppa from Salisbury, NC
The Seagate FreeAgent Desktop 1TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive has performed well for me. Initially, I had some problems with the drive because I did not install the Seagate Drive Manager software that came on the drive. After installing the software, the drive has performed perfectly. Though the price of the drive has dropped since I bought mine, it is still an excellent value and I would recommend this product to anyone needing storage space for large files. The main selling point to me was the 5 year warranty from Seagate. Was this review helpful?
