Based on all the reviews I went ahead and purchased two for my system. They worked great for 6 months, then BOOM - one failed so bad it prevented my system from even booting from a CD! Since my system was rather old, I figured it was the drive controller and purchased a new system so this cost me!
Google them and you might find articles titled "Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 drives said to be failing at an alarming rate" because of poor firmware. STAY AWAY!

Good price. Quiet drive. Came with the 1.5Gbs enabled. So if your motherboard or controller supports 3Gbs, remove the jumper. Was this review helpful?

I have purchased several of these drives and they are ultra quiet. I have installed these drives several customers computers and my customers have made the same comment. (I use these drives in my computers also) That being said the drives do not vibrate (they are perfectly balanced) and if you are holding the drive while it is running it is very hard to tell that it is on. To sum up .. GREAT drive very good read and write speed. You will be very happy with this drive. They are EXCELLENT! Art Was this review helpful?

When I bought this product it was on sale at buy.com for $142.99 including shipping. The product is excellent, I am using as an exchangeable external HD (with Vantec NST-D100SU NexStar Hard Drive Dock - SATA to USB 2.0 and eSATA -V13-3300- ) and it is working great.
As usual, I found excellent price for these and other products at buy.com. I have been their customer since 2/15/2002 without ANY complaint. In one occasion when I needed assistance, the problem was nicely resolved in an expedited way.
In conclusion: The product is excellent, the price was great (I did not pay for shipping) and the company (buy.com) is second to none.
