I was up and running within 5 minutes of unpacking this product. I'm running Windows Vista and it immediately installed the correct drivers. I'd already installed my middlewear because I had intended to use an external reader but then decided I didn't want to travel with the extra hardware and use a USB port if unnecessary. Too easy. It works seamlessly with Windows XP, ActivClient, PureEdge and ApproveIt. Don't bother going to the manufacturer's website to download drivers; Windows has the proper driver and Windows Updates has the most recent one. 0 issues. Was this review helpful?

This reader works great in my HP HDX16 laptop with Vista Home Premium 64-bit. It sits flush so it's prefectly integrated without sticking out. There is still enough thickness to easily push it in to remove though. www.militarycac.com was a valuable site to learn how to obtain the middleware and DoD certificates necessary to make it all work with your DoD CAC. I use this with my government ID card to access secure websites. It works great and I no longer have to use a USB smartcard reader. The only catch is that you need to have the smartcard software from a separate source. I had the software already installed so I plugged in the expresscard and I was in business!
