The movie stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of a U.S. Army commando team that goes into the South American jungle on a political mission and ends up dueling with a killer from outer space. This is the kind of idea that is produced at the end of a 10-second brainstorming session, but if it's done well, who cares? Predator is filmed very well. It's a slick, high-energy action picture that takes a lot of its strength from its steamy locations in Mexico. The heroes spend most of their time surrounded by an impenetrable jungle, a green wall of majestic vistas populated by all sorts of natural predators in addition to the alien. I've rarely seen a jungle look more beautiful, or more convincing; the location effect is on a par with Fitzcarraldo and The Emerald Forest... Predator moves at a breakneck pace, it has strong and simple characterizations, it has good location photography and terrific special effects, and it supplies what it claims to supply: an effective action movie. Students of trivia might want to note that the actor inside the predator costume is Kevin Peter Hall, who also occupies the Bigfoot costume in Harry and the Hendersons. (Predator) - Roger Ebert

Great great flicks... Commando is lotsa fun... but the plot is a bit... um dumb... and while Schwarzenegger's acting is good throughout... his daughter in Commando... Id buy this any day of the week... spechally since i already own T1 and 2 on dvd... Was this review helpful?

I think these movies are great! Unlike 'Bob Dole', who is weak and has no back, really should go to the gym. Bob, you are weak and obviously jealous of the fact that 'Arnie is a man', unlike yourself. Next time 'twigboy', watch the movies's before you offer your 'backboneless review of it'. What a 4PAK!!!! I mean this is classic Arnold. Arnold, as the hero, killing everyone around him. The suspense in Predator (possibly considered his best action movie) is intense. Total Recall was a sci-fi action flick that features the hottie Sharon Stone. Running Man, I believe, was written by someone quite significant(Steven King?). And my favorite action movie of all time is Commando. This is vintage action. 1 single man against an entire small army. 1 man against all odds. Fighting against time and death. Improbable and exciting. The deaths are inventive and this movie possibly has one the highest kill counts (excluding mass bombings). Plus it includes A young Alyssa Milano.

If you had to rate all of Arnold's movies, these would not be at the top. Total Recall would be up there, but not the rest. If I'm going to lay out this kind of money for an Arnold 4-pack, then give me Terminator, T2, True Lies and Eraser. This is a weak attempt. Was this review helpful?

Unlike Bob Dole's ignorant review, this one appreciates Arnold's movies for what they are: Action Extravaganzas. Not all these movies are made equal, but for example Total Recall is an out and out excellent movie (for a really good Philip K. Dick based movie see Blade Runner). I can't imagine how you would improve on Predator. Running man makes some interresting commentary on pop culture, and it makes it a decade before Oliver Stone's stupid 'Natural Born Killers'. Commando is the weak one of the bunch, but hey, enjoy it for the visceral macho gratuitous violence. Was this review helpful?
