In conjunction with the back-up camera installation a signal is sent to the NVM-4370 when plugged in to automatically display the camera feed. 3 of 5 Install SD card Monday, June 29, 2009
A Customer from Calgary, AB

I bought this in May, now when I purchased a car in June I tried to start utilizing it however, it shows insert SD card. I have no idea why it is showing like that..... SD card is inserted already as company says.....

4 of 5 Nice Navigator but poor design Thursday, June 04, 2009
PI from Monroe, NJ
Equipment works perfectly for navigation and finding points of interest, the blue tooth feature is excellent although it would have been better if it had a different volume set up from the navigation setup... I have no idea how to view videos or photos or acces the SD Card... If any one figured it out please let me know in your review... If it wasn't for the price, i would stick to magellan as it is much more intuitive, but I at least saved $150 for this unit with same features as high end GPS.

1 of 5 Good value if it works Monday, June 01, 2009
Scorpion35 from Diamond Bar, California
I bought this GPS back in Feb, 2009,everything was working great until a week ago. a few error message pop up when I turned it on, contact.exe and btGul are not valid windows CE application, load bitmap fail,Navigation not installed, please insert navigation SD card to install...etc. Reset did not help at all. I tried to connect it my PC, thought I maybe able to do a restore by using the DVD that came with the GPS. but my pc won't detect it as a USB device and it froze my computer. I went to Sanyo web site found 5 service centers within 50 miles where i live, called all of them, guess what, none of them service GPS. What a surprise! I don't know what to do with this "good looking" POS.

5 of 5 Great GPS Wednesday, April 29, 2009
Big Daddy from Montgomery, AL
The GPS was great. My Wife didn't approve with some much turn by turn direction. That option was great for me; just like a woman talking so much. We are both please with the device..!

5 of 5 Sanyo Rocks Monday, April 20, 2009
Barry from Saginaw, Tx
The Sanyo GPS offers so many more features than many other name brands for the same price. Very good value. Has reverse camera option. Bluetooth technology for hands free phone calls. FM transmission to hear your GPS through your car speakers. You can even transfer your contacts from your phone directly to it with bluetooth. My contact transfer didnt work, but my phone is a Palm OS, wich is a whole nother story.

4 of 5 Not Bad Sunday, April 19, 2009
A Customer from Glendale, AZ
Over all the unit works well. The FM parts is not that good you have to turn the volume up real load to hear it, Like the blue tooth feature. Wish Sanyo had the software upgrade features. All in all not a bad product for the money.

4 of 5 Good Basic GPS Saturday, April 18, 2009
A Customer from Ripon Ca
Have used in Canada and Western United states. Direction display very nice has arrows and on highway splits shows which merge you want. Kind of a delay in initial start up GPS connection sometimes 1-2 minutes, a long time to wait when you are in a hurry. Bluetooth feature nice. Still have not downloaded MP3s on yet. Very cool restaurant gas icons for whats in your immediate area, though somewhat distracting. I do wish it had an auto diming feature for night driving. Overall good purchase.

2 of 5 Nice if you get one that works Friday, April 17, 2009
A Customer from atlanta ga
I bought one of these because of the low price. After trying it out I ordered several more to give away as great gifts. Unfortunately, three of them don't work properly. They lock up, error screens show up on startup, and you can't use them. What an impressive gift! No luck so far getting buy.com to exchange them for working units. I haven't been able to reach Sanyo, either.

4 of 5 Great GPS Bad Documentation Friday, April 17, 2009
BobJ from Washington, DC
The GPS works just fine and as advertised. It was, in and of itself, a good value and an apparently quality product. My one grievance is the documentation. I printed out the online Owners Manual and, unless I'm missing something, it goes on and on about accessing all kinds of technologically marvelous features of the unit, but neglects to include any information on using the navigation bit which is why, after all, I bought the thing to begin with. The included one page 'quick start' chart was inadequate.

4 of 5 Acceptable at the price Wednesday, April 15, 2009
Nick from Forked River, NJ
Voice directions and menu selection a bit less polished than Garmin or TomTom, also a lot heavier. Although no voice command it does have auto answer and the terminate call icon is prominent. GPS accuracy a bit jumpy if the antennae is not flipped up from the back cover, but accuracy, voice prompts and display comparable to Garmin & TomTom. Although incoming calls will display while in Navigation (GPS) mode, must leave GPS mode to place a call. Synched easily & works with a Motorola W385 and Samsung Alias. Pic quality decent. FM transmit tolerable with the road-noise/echo in a 7 yr old Civic and newer Odyssey. Solid build to the unit and mounting brackets, yet car charger seems to randomly loose connection in Civic only.

4 of 5 Easy to use and worth the price....but Monday, March 30, 2009
Amye from Pittsburg, CA
I received this item last week as a never owned a GPS user. Pros: The unit was easy to set up and use. The voice was clear and easy to understand even when my music was playing. The Bluetooth was definitely a plus, I was able to connect me blackberry with ease and the sound quality was great on both ends. Cons: This unit didn't have up to date maps, my house is 2 years old and it couldn't identify the street or surrounding streets. This unit also didn't have the voice command feature, which I didn't know it was called that until I realize this unit didn't have it. I am planning on sending it back for that reason, and instead I ordered a Magellan Maestro 4250 from Buy.com. It's hard trying to work the GPS while driving, and with the voice command feature I can speak the commands and concentrate on driving.

5 of 5 Overall A Good Buy Thursday, March 26, 2009
Dan from Madison, WI
This product comes with everything you need right out of the box. Mounting brakets, plug-ins, and easy to understand instructions. It works great, my only complaint (and it's really minor) would be that you can't see the battery life all the time. It tends to run out of batteries quickly and shuts off while your using it. All in all a great product and I would recommend it to anyone.

3 of 5 Pretty good unit Thursday, March 19, 2009
telrod from Alpharetta, GA
Had it for over a month and a half now, and it does a pretty good job. It hasn't led me astray yet, and I have used it in the Carolinas, Tenn, Fl and Ga. I came from an older MIO unit, and I like the programming of the older MIO better than I do this unit, but this one has some cool features. Pros: Clear display, relatively easy input of destinations, POI along your route (this is pretty cool) Cons: Automatically switches to night at 7 pm, which is too late during the winter, and too soon during DST. Actually, even when it dims, it is still waaaay too bright during night trips. Bluetooth connection: Works great, but a waste of time. Who wants to be on the phone using this unit as a handsfree bluetooth, and then override the devices ability to tell you where to turn?? What I hoped for in the bluetooth connectivity was to be able to send an address up to the unit and have it plot that destination.... Sorry, that isn't the design, but it would have been cool. FM Transmitter: OK in my metro area, but if you travel distances with it, you wind up coming across stations that are stronger near the FM setting you have chosen, and it will really degrade the transmission Music Player: This is my biggest pet peeve with this unit. It can't recognize and play across "folders". This means that *all* my music has to be in the same folder. My 4 yr old MIO did this flawlessly, so I look at this is a really big programming issue... Would I buy it again? For what its purpose is intended to be, it works fine, and I like the looks and design. When it heads off the GPS path in to some of these add-on items, it really is lacking. I would definitely think that some other units might have done a better job on the cons you see here, so I would look around...

5 of 5 Works well so far Wednesday, March 18, 2009
Nick from Philadelphia, PA
Took the plunge, bought this as it was only $100. Read a lot about this, lots of reviews and found a lot of useful info. Basically, GPS works well, aquired signal in about 10 seconds, interface is pretty good, read the manual on the included CD as it explains a lot! 2D and 3D maps are nice, a little bit out of date, went to NevTeq's web site and as Sanyo is not listed asked for updates, will see how they respond. Sanyo's web site has no info on this device. Linked to my cell phone (Razr v3) no problem, imported contacts from phone over bluetooth, no problems, dialed phone call from GPS through bluetooth through my phone, no issue, answered incomming call in same manner. Media player, plays MP3s fine, photos fine, video needs Mpeg4 (someone advised to transcode files to I-pod format, have not tried) Problems other have reported: speaker is weak, OK, what do you expect, it is GPS!, works OK on mine. FM transmitter works fine on mine, change frequency to one that does not conflict with any radio stations. Hidden function: when using Navigation, if you want to play music in the background without exiting the navigation, press the power button on the top to switch screens without exiting Navigation, then configure Music to play. Using this, you can direct music over FM transmitter to your car stereo while keeping navigation running. Music does get muted while direction info is spoken by navigation. Same for making phone call. So far everything seems to work well, an excellent purchase once you do the research.

4 of 5 No real complaints.... Sunday, March 15, 2009
Mommyx4 from Cincinnati OH
Overall we are satisfied with our new GPS. The only complaints we have is that we've had some issues finding directions to houses - or new streets. Its a better GPS then my husbands - he got his a few years ago and he's jealous of mine! :) The screen is big and the voice is loud enough to be heard over the radio. The screen is nice and flat and is a large enough size I dont need my glasses to see it! Great value, satisfied overall. Cant wait to see how the back up camera feature works once we get one installed.

5 of 5 Low, Low, Price. High, High Regards. Saturday, March 14, 2009
Charlie K. from Newfield, NJ
All of the features in a $250.00 to $350.00 GPS for $99.99. Map is current, over 5 million or so POI's. Bluetooth, Text to speech, 4:3 widescreen, Video and MP3 player. Come on... Unbelieveable deal in my book.

4 of 5 OK Wednesday, March 11, 2009
Dave from Bergenfield, NJ
Still trying to figure out a few things.....for instance, on the box it shows a dual screen with lane markers, and after a few weeks I haven't seen that display....also, I want to know if it can go through an entire route ahead of time....just in case it may automatically take me through a bad area, I know I can re-adjust ahed of time.....Otherwise the screen is nice and it seems pretty sturdy. Whoever writes a review, help me out if you can on the dual screen!!! Thanks

5 of 5 Outstanding Product Wednesday, March 11, 2009
Justin K from Columbus, IN
This GPS is fantastic, especially for the price. All the people that have complained about delays or low volume either don't understand GPS, this product's features, or their GPS is defective. If you feel the volume is too low on the device, itself (there is a volume control on the GPS), you can transmit to your car stereo. You should have no trouble hearing it, then. The larger screen definitely helps if you have trouble seeing and the use of colors make everything very clear to see. The voice directions are clear and accurate. The ability to upload music and video is great, too. It will also pick up cameras that transmit wireless signals. All in all a great buy for my family and me and something that I will recommend to anyone that can use it.

1 of 5 Don't buy this Wednesday, March 11, 2009
Richard from Addison, Il
It worked only for a couple of days. I couldn't return to Buy.com because of 14 days return policy. Complete useless, unresponsive Sanyo support center. After a few days unit stop working. I'm warning you. Don't buy it. Sanyo need new software to put on this unit. My previous review didn't show up on Buy.com web page. They show only good reviews.

5 of 5 Excellent GPS I have seen Tuesday, March 10, 2009
Sam from Birmingham, AL
This is an excellent GPS I bought at this price and the features it has. I have used Garmin etc but this is the best out of all when compare to its price and features. I have tested all the in built features all are working very good. Navigation, Junction view is very good ,Music player, photo player , FM transmeter , rear view camera monitor are good. I like the USB charging too.You may not get any customer support how to use all fetures, but any way if you know a little bit of any GPS you can understand this too.The only missing I found is You can not enter any text in searching POI's.You have to select from different categories that are in built. Over all it is an excelent piece.

3 of 5 mediocar performance Monday, March 09, 2009

5 of 5 An excellent buy! Saturday, March 07, 2009
A Customer from Seattle, WA
We've only used this for the past week so I can't really attest to all of its features (haven't tried Bluetooth yet, for example), but everything we have tried has worked great. There's a ton of points-of-interest for the Seattle area included on the base maps and you simply can not get this many features for the money any other way. Sanyo support appears to be near non-existent, but I understand that you can do a mioPocket transformation and gain access to a wealth of add-on software. Note that the standard USB charger does not put out enough current to re-charge a completely drained battery; you'll have to hook the unit up to the car charger to return it to life.

5 of 5 Move over Garmin and TomTom... Thursday, March 05, 2009
A Customer from Brooklyn, NY
This GPS system is a little wonder. It packs all the standard features (maps, POI) of a typical system from Garmin or TomTom and still goes further. I especially like the bluetooth feature that allows you to use it as a cell phone hands-free. Also the media card support is useful if you don't have an portable music player auxillary input equipped for your stereo. I rated the performance a little lower because I still getting used to the quick navigation commands. The ease of use is a little shaky when mounted on the windshield.

4 of 5 Decent Product Wednesday, March 04, 2009
Nam from San Diego, CA
Great buy for the price, however the features are average, nothing spectacular. What do expect for a $99 gps? As for me I don't travel a lot so this device best suit my budget. There are many great features that the device have, but I find it useless. First of all the bluetooth to me are useless when driving on a highway, the speaker volume is too low I could not hear anything. Second the FM transmitter, the signal is weak, you'll hear static through your car speakers plus you have to turn your stereo volume all the way up just to hear the music. The photo viewer has horrible resolution. It would take about a few seconds just to load the picture. On the other side, the text to speech is great. Again if you expect to have a gps device that have all those great features at this price range, then this Sanyo GPS is not for you. If you are like myself who find those features are not necessary then this device is a great buy.

5 of 5 Best device for all the features that it gives Tuesday, March 03, 2009
steve from Dallas, TX
The device is good for the price and offers a lot more.. and i love it. Apart from all good features that it offers.. here's are my comments.. 1. I installed mio pocket pc s/w and converted this device to a Pocket pc. It has windows mediaplayer that plays other formats of video and audio and offers playlists. You can launch the navigation with in the pocket pc and switch back and forth. 2. Very slow response on typing alphabets using the touch screen. On the good side the dropdown list comes very fast with few letters. This is not that big a problem considering the real navigation response that this device offers. 3. The FM transmitter doesnt work that well. fine by me. havent tested the video cam interface yet. Not sure what camera works well with this and how to simulate the backing on/off off the camera changes in the car to automatically start the video. 4. How do we get the firmware upgraded ? the sanyo site is pretty useless and there is no link. The customer support is very bad.. you cant talk to a person. i tried calling the number several times and was on hold for more than 30 mins and never could get thru. 5. How to upgrade maps ? the navtec site dosent have Sanyo as supported manufacturer.... so the process to upgrade the maps are not clear. Given the current maps are very up to date, but some day we need the updates. over all this is a g8 device for the price and tested the navigation and it works g8.. so I am happy with it so far and keeping it.

5 of 5 Absolute best unit for the price. Monday, March 02, 2009
B.C. from Dallas, Texas
I bought the NVM-4370 with an ounce of hesitation due to the Sanyo brand. While I've been pleased with other Sanyo products in the past, I was not aware that they had taken a stance in the GPS market. After receiving my GPS, all hesitation instantly disappeared. I absolutely love this device. For the money (I bought it on sale for $99.99 with free shipping), it has the most features and operates seamlessly. Don't hesitate. Purchase this device whenever it goes back on sale for $99.99.

4 of 5 Good value Sunday, March 01, 2009
Greahm from Evansville, IN
Used in on one trip and it performed well. It is confusing to maneuver through the menu's and hard to make adjustments to the route. The time of arrival varies in accuracy in comparison to another brand we have. It does pick up a signal much quicker than another unit I have used. It connected by Bluetooth with my iphone easily enough, but the sound quality and volume is not the best and I didn't set up the FM, which probably would have helped. The window mounting unit works much better than others, altho a bit clunky. Overall, it has a lot of features and functioned well for the $$. Buy.com as always does a good job managing the order and shipping.

5 of 5 Lots of features for the $$ Saturday, February 28, 2009
Jeanie from Paradise, CA
Easy to set up and use. It is my first. I love the big screen and the fact it has bluetooth and works with a backup camera. Some of the routes seem a little off but for the most part its good. The map program is fairly up to date. I think this unit is the most bang for your buck. I will probably buy another next time they are on sale. I also recommended it to a couple of friends of mine. I like the fact that the drop down menus are smart so that inputting a location, city is super easy. You only have to put in the first couple of letters and it brings up the list of streets or whatever.

It has windows mediaplayer that plays other formats of video and audio and offers playlists etc. You can launch the navigation from with in the pocket pc and switch back and forth. 2. Very slow response on typing alphabets using the touch screen. This is not that big a problem considering the real navigation response that this device offers. 3. The FM transmitter doesn't work that well. fine by me not a big issue. 4. Havent tested the video cam interface yet. Not sure what camera works well with this and how to configure backing on/off of the camera automatically when the car is backing up or on demand. 4. How do we get the firmware upgrades, when available ? the Sanyo site is pretty useless and there is no link. The customer support is very bad.. you cant talk to a person. i tried calling the number several times and was on hold for more than 30 mins and no one answers. 5. How to upgrade maps ? the navtec site dosen't list Sanyo as supported manufacturer. so the process to get future upgrades or support download a Europe maps etc are not clear. Although the supplied maps are very up to date, but some day we need the updates. The only reason i am giving a **** 4/5 rating is because of lack of clarity about the customer support/firmware updates/future enhancements and new country maps integration. Hope Sanyo addresses these concerns. over all it is a g8 device for the price and passed my testing to my satisfaction except for the points mentioned above. So i am keeping this device and looking forward to integrate with my car and the camera as well.

5 of 5 Folks This Is The One To Buy Saturday, February 21, 2009
Douglas Bushman from Fremont, CA
Stop looking at any negative reviews and BUY THIS FOLKS ! It is steal at $ 99.00 bucks ! I have fully tested this in the SF Bay area and beyond and it works better than I expected. The GPS locks onto the signal very quickly and gives accurate information to get you where you want to go. The bluetooth works great and the FM transmitter plays my music over my radio wonderfully. The display is bright and easy to read. This unit is packed with features that would cost you more but in these hard times why pay more for them. Stop reading this review and go order one of these before they are all gone--By the way the MAPS are up to date ! Buy. com is the best price and they shipped the GPS quickly!

I bought this SANYO NVM-4370-4.3" GPS System w/ Preloaded Maps- Text-To-Speech, Bluetooth for my boyfriend as his birthday gift. He loved this product so much. The shipping is fast, the value is great, the performance is wonderful. It's also easy to use. Nothing I can complain about. It's worthy to receive such high evaluation.

5 of 5 Very impressed...so far Tuesday, February 17, 2009
A Customer from Northern New York (like canada north)
While I've only used it a few times, I think I put this GPS to a pretty good test...and it passed. I took it on two ice fishing trips in Northern New York...I was very surprised to find that it picked up seasonal one-lane dirt roads...roads that snowplows don't even go down. The signal seemed strong and steady, however both days were sunny. While Sanyo doesn't have the rep that Garmin and TomTom have for GPS, you can't beat the features you get for this price. Will be intereested to see how it does in urban environments with lots of interference, though. Recommend a friction dash mount.

4 of 5 Fully featured but lacks polish Tuesday, February 17, 2009
Karthick from Denver, CO
This GPS as the specs suggest is fully loaded but the implementation of the different features on this GPS is flawed. They are not well thought out and lack polish. Here are my observations. The GOOD : 1. Maps seem to be pretty up-to-date but then I didnt try to find any brand new subdivision or shopping area. 2. Routing picks intuitive routes (Dont take this for granted with other devices). 3. When you stray of your route, recalculation is pretty fast. 4. GPS lock is blazing fast. I have used other GPS devices like Nextar and Plenio (Not used any big name devices). This Sanyo blows them all away. It feels like it locks instantly. This is very nice . 5. Text-to-speech works very well. One-street-ahead directions and good pronounciation. 6. LCD is nice, bright and colorful. 7. Excellent battery life. I used it for 2 hours of music playback and the battery indicator did not yet indicate low battery levels. 8. Device is sleek and pocketable. I could easily use this as my portable media player. 9. The windshield/dash mount is well constructed. The BAD 1. It was confusing how to get music playback when navigating.I had to read the manual to do it :(. 2. The FM Transmitter is pretty underwhelming :(. This was the single most dissapointing feature on this GPS. I bought this Sanyo over the various different refurbished GPS units available just for the FM transmitter but I couldnt find a single frequency on which this device pairs cleanly with my radio. Even if I could find a relative interference free frequency, the volume level of the FM signal out of this device is unnacceptable. If you want to buy this GPS just for the FM Transmitter. Dont. I am going to attach a 3rd-party FM transmitter to the device to see if its any better. 4. The music player is very very basic. No playlist support (!). Common Sanyo, its not 1995. 3. The volume button and power button on the top of the GPS device can be fussy to find in the dark. 4. The device does not come with an AC adaptor to charge the device in home. This is dissapointing. Although any mini-USB charger works, it would be nice if they provided an AC adapter. Things I did not test 1. Bluetooth 2. Video player 3. Backup Camera Hope the review helped.

5 of 5 Good GPS unit with lot of options Friday, February 13, 2009
GA from Sanjose CA
This is my first GPS unit that I brought and it seems like it has good bang for your buck, got it for $99+tax. Originally I considered buying VR3 Backup Camera for $70+ for my Odyssey van which comes with Camera + 2.5" monitor. But later I was thinking lets buy some unit which has GPS + Backup Camera option and doing some research. Other units did not come to my expectation while reading reviews for Price / features / performance ratio. But I came across this one last week and reviews seems like nice. Hence ordered one for myself. GPS Navigation: It is very nice and intuitive. GPS Satellite lockin takes about 1-2 min depending on your location and if you do not "power off button at the bottom" lock in is just 10-20 seconds. Backup Camera: Detects Video Input automatically and switches the view to it until video is off. You can plugin any RCA Video input in to Backup camera slot and you can even TV on it. Very nice design. FM Transmitter: Default frequency is 88.9 Mhz, Works well if you find a free slot in from 88.1 to 107.9. Difficult to get the free slot in bay area. Bluetooth is very nice, I tried it using my T-637. It is better to pair from the phone side rather than from this unit as it does not give the name (displays hex first) while searching for the pairing device. Speaker: Is not that great one, and I do not expect it to be. So used FM transmitter for all my Bluetooth phone conversations. You can use this drive as your USB 4GB drive on your Windows XP PC Over all it is a good unit for less than $100

3 of 5 Decent product except for very bad text to voice q Thursday, February 12, 2009
Kamran from kansas city, missouri
I have been using this product for the last couple of weeks. It does a decent job on navigation but the response time is a little slow. If I was in a strange city I might have had a little harder time finding directions because of the slow reponse time to re adjust the route. It seems like I get to the intersection before it figures out that I am already at the intersection. By the time it announces, I am already past it. Because I plan on using it only in the city I live in, I think I can deal with it. Maybe I am spoiled because I am so used to the navigation on my Subarban and it is extremely accurate and the voice is very loud and clear unlike the Sanyo. For a budget gps though, I thinks its ok as long as you don't get your hopes too high. Remember what you are paying so don't expect $1000 performance out of a $130 unit.

3 of 5 it freezed after one week of use Wednesday, February 11, 2009
A Customer from South San Francisco, CA
it's our luck or what?! it stopped working on the freeway after one week of use and the CD that came with the package also in defect so we could not reload the information into the GPS. even though the GPS has been with us for about 10 days, we could not return it to buy.com as it only offers 14 days return policy and the 14 days starts from the shipping date. we called Sanyo several times and we had to pay for the shipping fee to ship it back to Sanyo for repair.

5 of 5 Excellent GPS Monday, February 09, 2009
Peggy from Seattle, WA
I prefer the portable GPS over a built in because I can use it in rental cars, and I can use it for more than just navigation. For example, I download mp3 files and listen to cardio music while working out in my club or walking.
