5 of 5 A Great Little Player Wednesday, July 16, 2008
A Customer from Sicklerville, NJ.
I've owned a lot of mp3 players, Zune,Creative Touch,Philips,Sandisk, but the Sansa is the the best by far. Very easy to use Drag & Drop, Very very simple. I own the 8gig player with the expandable mimi card slot, more music than I can listen to, it also has a very long battery life between charges. I bought a hard plastic case, and I have it mounted on my Honda Goldwing. Since I bought mine, I have 4 friends that also purchaced them. It's a Great Player, so if your in the market for a player, buy this one.

5 of 5 best I used so far Saturday, June 28, 2008
A Customer from Thousand Oaks, ca
Great little player. Size, battery life, ease of adding music. Only small drawback: hard for this operator to navigate from music playing list back to master music list (to reset and/or change music to play). Beats the bejesus out of my 3 Creative systems each of which had power failures early in life and will not recharge at all (less than 2 months of life on each!).

5 of 5 Great little MP3 player Tuesday, May 27, 2008
A Customer from Atlanta, GA
I wanted a MP3 player that was small and compact. I was not interested in playing videos so this Sansa E280 was ideal for me. Sounds good, and have been really happy with this purchase.

5 of 5 Bought it again Saturday, May 24, 2008
A Customer from Buzzards Bay, MA
Washed my first one - a 4 gig. Not waterproof! But I liked it so much I bought another, the 8 gig, and enjoy it daily. Works well. I use my winamp software to load and manage it. Avoiding nightmarishly fussy, intrusive Apple, Microsoft or Sony proprietary software. Drag and drop in winamp - happiness. A fantastic piece of electronics for the price. Refurbished is like brand new except for the little label on the back. Don't be afraid of an even better deal!

5 of 5 Awesome little machine Thursday, May 15, 2008
A Customer from Richmond, VA
Works great. My only complaint is that the pause/play button is waaaay too sensitive and things pause if anything brushes or pushes against the unit in the general area of the pause button...not just on the button.

5 of 5 Very Happy Tuesday, May 06, 2008
A Customer from Kansas
I am very happy with my Sansa e280. So far so good! I bought the re-certified model along with a SanDisk 4GB microSDHC Card and have no complaints. I find the Sansa much easier to use than the Zune I once owned and the iPod my daughter once owned. I do not have to deal with any special software program but just drag and drop. I have called Sandisk for tech support twice to help me understand better how to use a feature and both times I got through quickly and had a very courteous and helpful person on the other end. When you get your Sansa please note that ver2 of the player will use the microSDHC disk but ver1 will only user the microSD disk.

5 of 5 Good product Sunday, May 04, 2008
A Customer from Rochester, ny
I was very happy when I bought this product, mainly because it was refurbished and very cheap. I like it a lot, and am having no problems. I have never had an ipod, so I can't compare it. However, I'm pretty happy with this unit.

5 of 5 A great product for a great price Tuesday, April 22, 2008
A Customer from Pasadena, MD
This was a great buy! Since a product manual didn't come with this "reconditioned" item, I downloaded it and was quickly on my way to enjoying the Sansa player. It has all the features I had hoped for and more: music, video, FM radio and voice recording. The ease of downloading music is a plus- even this non-techie figured it out without asking for help. The sound is great, and after organizing my music, it's easy to access individual songs, artists or complete albums with a few clicks. Having the capacity to add memory is wonderful! The only downsides experienced are the inability to adjust the volume easily and the speed at which the screen light goes off when in use.

After 2 months of use I'm glad I saved the money on the refurb! It looks and acts like new. Great sound with LOTS of space to put your favorite music. Easy to load. Long battery run time on a full charge. The wheel takes a bit to get use to.

5 of 5 Sansa e280 is a good product, but some small issue Thursday, April 10, 2008
Glenn from Seattle WA
I have had the refurbished e280 for a little while now. It works and sounds good. The screen is bright and easy to read. It arrived in new condition, no scratches at all. The biggest issue that I had was a software issue. It doesn't come with any software or directions. I am pretty computer savvy and have had a couple of mp3's before. It was still a bit of a struggle to do some basic things. It was missing some file and after reaching Sandisk's help line, I was able to clear up the issue. After that, there were some hidden folders. After reading many Sandisk forums, I learned how to un-hide the music folder. After that, it was easy to drag and drop in both modes, and delete files. There is a small issue with unknown artists and deleting those files, but I'm sure I'll reload and add info to the files to fix them. FM works pretty well and navigation is easy. Also, as far as I was able to read, you can only add a 2 gig micro SD card, no larger cards will work properly. A great deal for the price, software issues a little pain but you can overcome them, eventually.Things you might need: ac power cord, micro SD card, and after exhaustive research, I purchased and really like the Handstand's armband (great quality, size, and button access).

5 of 5 Easy, simple, versatile Tuesday, April 08, 2008
A Customer from minneapolis minnesota
I'm an older person not very familiar with portable audio. I found this to be just what I wanted since it is so easy to use, load, and is so versatile. It's so small and light that I know I have to use it with some care although it seems well constructed and can take some abuse. I like the way it can be used in a case with an armband so it will be handy at the gym. I've downloaded many albums into my 8gb unit. Selection is easy which makes it really enjoyable to listen to my favoite oldies. A really good buy!

5 of 5 Fits the Bill Tuesday, April 08, 2008
A Customer from Copley, Ohio
The e280 is very versatile. The FM tuner takes it a notch above similar players. Sound is great, although the included ear buds were uncomfortable. That was easily remedied. The menus are easy to navigate. As with all of these players, the small controls can sometimes be a problem, but with practice you learn to accommodate. My refurbished unit was a steal for the price, smoothly integrated with my music management software.

5 of 5 great product but frustrating issues Saturday, April 05, 2008
A Customer from Murphy NC
Upon my sandisk's arrival I realized no software was included. Just the earphones and mp3 player alone in a box. I went online to find needed manual and software. But when I went to sync songs with my sandisk I quickly ran into problems. My media player did not recognize my device. Called Sansa several times. Although they were happy to try to assist and nice, it still did not work. Finally found I needed to download a window's update to get this to work. After this long ordeal the items works great. Its been a frustrating ordeal but I am now satisfied with my purchace.

5 of 5 Excellent MP3 Player for the price Friday, April 04, 2008
Frank from Paramus, NJ
Don't fear the 'refurbished' or 'recertified' description in the label. The unit I received was almost brand new and works excellently. I had options to turn the volume higher or lower using the wheel and also the volume settings so that I can turn it extra loud for noisy environments and regular for indoor environments. No probs with what I got, earphones, usb charger/data cord, and the Sansa e280. This is a great deal for someone who wants a very inexpensive alternative to a ipod. Just download the software installer from the Sandisk website and your good to go. I would recommend getting a case in advance since the screen is a bit sensitive to getting fingerprints and scuff marks. But hey ... the ipod has the same problem too. All in all, well worth the money I spent to get this thing.

5 of 5 Awesome device for the price Thursday, April 03, 2008

5 of 5 Good Deal For The Money Wednesday, April 02, 2008
A Customer from Sterling, VA
I had been using a 2GB Sansa for about 18 months and had a 1GB Creative Muvo Slim before that. I really like this player. It was instantly recognized by both my laptoip and desktop computers. One running Vista the other Windows XP. I had no problem with Real's Rhapsody service and was able to load music to it easily. I was able to sync files from my HDD with Windows media player and Media Monkey Gold, again no problems noted. I have over 1800 mp3s loaded and about 650MB free space left. The only shortcomings, to me, are that it is a bit weak in the FM sensitivity and takes a bit of time to read media. Not a deal breaker unless you are out in the boonies and reception is a problem.

5 of 5 GREAT LITTLE MP3 PLAYER Tuesday, April 01, 2008
MCPRO from Citrus Heights, California
Ok, i actually bought 2 of these that were brand new in the past year and gave them away as gifts to my daughters. They love them and I love this recertified one that I bought for my self. It is perfect in size, it has a nice big screen and works great at the gym for working out. So far it works great and have had no problems. The unit looked new when I got it except for the back of the unit that states "Recertified". Make sure you get the DLO action jacket that covers the unit, it fits like a glove. Oh and I paid alot more for the brand new ones, this is a great deal! Enjoy.

5 of 5 Sansa E280 Tuesday, April 01, 2008
GernDog from Bhaven, MS
I really love this player. The only thing better about an iPod is that an iPod has more available accessories. The sound is great, and the ease of use is also very good. I have not really tried the photo or video aspects yet, but the mp3 player, the radio, and the the recorder are all sweet. Call me greedy but I wish it had AM, too, since some programs I like are on AM only. I love being able to drag and drop files, and I mean any kind of files - I feel sooooo sorry for you iPod users. So far, one of the best purchases I have made. the only negative has been mentioned by others is that the earbuds can't really be used on a computer becuase of the buzz, but sound good with the Sansa. Go SANSA.

5 of 5 Good Deal Monday, March 31, 2008
matt_stump from Cameron Park, CA
I love this player. I have been looking for a player that I could "Rockbox", and this one fit the bill. Rockbox gives me the ability to completely change how the player looks, adding album cover art, and even an itouch like ability (still expiramental). It also adds support for most audio codecs, and expanded video codecs (ogg, m4a, etc.). I also have a lot more sound settings, which I'm still tweaking. I have noticed the sound clipping when I try to boost the volume, no matter which headphones I'm using, so the volume could be louder for my tastes. I was spoiled by my previous player, the Creative Zen Nomad, which is probably one of the loudest on the market. This player is still louder than the Ipod. The price for a refurbished one was under $100 for the 8gig model. It also has a micro sd slot for expanding the storage space. I see that Sandisk makes an 8 gig micro sd card, but I don't know if there are limitations on the card size. The player size is perfect for gym use. I've seen reviews where people were complaining that it's thicker and heavier than the nano, which is true, but it's still pretty darn small. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase!

5 of 5 Excellent, but only for XP Sunday, March 30, 2008
A Customer from New Paris, PA
I'm very pleased with this mp3 player. The price, quality and features are all very good. Before this I had an older Zen 1Gb that cost more at the time than this did and has very limited features compared to the Sansa.

5 of 5 the scroll wheel works less than half of the time Saturday, March 29, 2008
A Customer from Bethesda, MD
Screen is clearly visible, sound from the provided earphones is decent, the scroll wheel is the only thing I found (so far) that does not work most of the time, you move the wheel one direction then all of sudden the direction of items on screen goes the opposite direction.

Thomas Kietur from Milton, Florida
Right out of the box, everything worked great. It does say refurb on the back, but who cares. For $73 shipped to my door, this 8 gig baby is perfect. This is my first MP3 player and I have to say, boy! What a difference it makes at the gym. My Sansa e280 is perfect.

I've been using this "refurb" Sansa e280 for about a week now with absolutely no issues. I loaded it up with music and away I went. Yes refurb is printed on the back of the unit, but who cares, 8GB of MP3 capabilites delivered to my front door in two days for $73, you can't beat it. Good luck.

5 of 5 Perfect Thursday, March 20, 2008
Mahen. from New Castle,Delaware
This product is really cool, for a fraction of the cost of the much hyped iPod,you get a lot lot more ...like mp3 music,FM,microphone, recorder. Although the sound perhaps is not at par with the Ipod,it is not far behind.I have bought two and am totally satisfied. But be sure to buy a better pair of headphones (probably a Sennheiser or a Grado) and then the Sansa sounds great! ..The headphones that come with the sansa are a shame! The batteries do last a long long time...i have been listening a lot to it since the last 2 days and the battery is still 1/2 full, not to mention the full marks that goto Buy.com for promptly shipping the product with neat packaging and making the experience all the more nice.Forgot to mention that the Sansa looks sleek & smooth & thankfully the REFURB sticker on the back of the Sansa is easly removable with a pen & a wet tissue and then ur Sansa looks brand NEW! I have rated the product 4 and not 5 cause the headphones that it came with are unacceptable.

5 of 5 Consider going to Rapsody if you get this Saturday, March 15, 2008
A Customer from Irvine, CA
Rapsody has a service called Rapsody to-go which you can load as much music as you want onto your player for around $15/month. Expansion MicroSD you are limited to 2GB with the v1, but with v2 it is said to be able to take MicroSD high capacity expansion slot which would bring it to higher than 2GB per manufacturer's website. Also there is a FM tuner on this that is not in the tech description or I am missing it some how.

5 of 5 Its a good little player and YES i do play movies Tuesday, March 11, 2008
dragonlady from MA
I have had my Sansa, the 4g version, for about 1 1/2 years. My son had one (which was stolen) and my son's GF has one. I also got one for my 68 year old mother and she loves it. SHe is pretty saavy techie wise and was able to transfer 3 CDs to the player in the first hour she had it, plugged in to some speakers and did her house work. SHe was THRILLED. I think it was almost the best gift i ever got her. The ONLY con is that late in the first year i had it, it would occassionally freeze, but i was ALWAYS able to get it running again. I just reformat and load everything on and go. I guess i did that a few times the first year. I have had the same unit ALL this time. I run it in my car EVERY day to and from work, and many times i plug it into a set of speakers at work and run it all day. I love it. I have also transfered movies, from my computer. The user who mentioned that it breaks the movie into 4 parts is doing something else. MIne HAS never broken a movie into parts. I have FULL Length movies on this little baby. I have home movies on it. For pictures and video you use the sansa software to transfer. Yes its a small screen but still kewl and in a pinch on an 8 hour plane ride, i use it. Transfering music is a cinch and so easy. You can use Windows media player or you can drag and drop. I prefer WMP. I have more that gotten my moneys worth out of this thing. I would definately buy another one. In fact my son who had his stolen is buying another, larger this time. Oh, and i bought some better over the ear headphones, mostly for the plane rides.

I know I'm coming into the 8GB rather late; however, I have to say that I am extremely happy that I went ahead and purchased it. My previous MP3 player was the Sansa 2GB, but this 8Gigger is not only larger in size, but also larger in overall quality. I heard/read a lot about the wheel not being so hot (clunky), but I like it plenty: gives me more control. Another thing I like a lot about it is when I press fast-forward, it fast-forwards on the first press. My old one would "open" on the first, and then go forward on the second...and I hated that. Last, but not least, the battery life and short start-up time is pretty damn decent. Con: A tad heavier than I imagined it would be (but it's all good).

5 of 5 Nice device and better value than ipod Saturday, December 29, 2007
common sense from NY
This has better features and costs less than it's competition at the 8 gig level. It can play video, play music, FM radio, photo viewer, FM record and voice recorder all in one small bullet proof package. You can also expand your music or picture content via a 2gb micro SD card slot. The interface is nice and simple but takes a little getting use to going back and forth between menus. The wheel isn't as smooth as ipods but it does work. My only compaint is when you transfer full length movies to the sansa it breaks them apart in four "episodes". Also it converts them to .mov files which eats up more valuable space than it needs to be. Overall very happy with the unit and would recommend this unit.

2 of 5 Audible (Audio Books) & Fast Forward issues Thursday, December 27, 2007
NeverAgain from Califon, NJ
Sandisk claims in their Technical Data Sheet (I guess no one reads those anymore), that the unit works with Audible files. Not so, only the same name and designation v2. Sandisk however claims there is no way to tell on the package, which version you are buying. FURTHERMORE, there is no firmware to change to a v2 unit. So the Tech Data AND package insert says it's Audible compatible. Tech support and Audible says you need a v2 unit AND there is no indication on the package (that contains the erroneous data sheet) that it will not perform to specifications. AND, if you have 1-6 hour book on MP3, the fast forward only goes 16-20 seconds forwar for each "click". Otherwise it's a great music player..... but NOT for BOOKS. The voice recorder is incidental - token fluff for on the box feature list. FM is OK in metro areas. Battery life is good. Needs a computer to delete files/music... no on screen option. Cheers, enjoy the music....

5 of 5 It's a good item Friday, December 21, 2007
MagickalSpheres from biloxi, ms
drawbacks are that the songs on it never actually get erased unless you format it; however, be very careful with this idea. I suggest that if you do a format, to connect it up to your computer in a safe location, put everything down and then click the ok button as you walk away. If for any reason the device becomes disconnected when it is formatting, it becomes unusable.

5 of 5 Great mp3 player Monday, December 17, 2007
The Educated Consumer from NYC, NY
Its a great mp3 player, pictures look great, and music quality is great is well. The head phones are decent, and if you use them with a computer theyll have a buzz in the background. Overall the player is great, just dont buy this for video. I have used a couple of the supported formats of the player but it sometimes stops the video automatically, or just wont play them, or stops when fowarding or rewinding. Honestly its really hard to watch video on its small screen anyways, but for everything else it works flawlessly.

3 of 5 Fine: Not great, not terrible Tuesday, December 11, 2007
A Customer from Portland, OR
I've had my e260 for over three months now, and I must say that despite the value, there are a couple of irritating features a potential buyer should be aware of. First, there's changing tracks. To save battery, I have the screen turn off after 30 seconds (which you'll want to do, too). Once the screen is off, though, in order to change tracks, pause, etc, I need to first re-engage the player by pushing a button or changing the volume. For me this translates into having to double click the "next" button each time I want to hear a different song. It may sound like a small deal, but when you're running, you don't want to fumble around with your player. Second, but related, you can't really surf through your collection. Noting the considerable lag time in changing songs and in consideration of the player's large memory, it would take a week to search through a big playlist to find a particular song. You'd be better off simply searching through the main memory by author or title. I hate this. Given that I don't create playlists, I feel stuck. Finally, there's the bootup. My suggestion, push start, go to work, come home, read the newspaper, watch a movie, go to bed, wake up, and by then you'll be all set. All hyperbole aside, it takes a really long time to start. You never really adapt. I would like to conclude by saying that the e260 is a good deal for the memory but a headache in many respects. If you do decide to take the plunge, remember there's a reason it's on sale. But while it may not represent the second coming, it's better than nothing and certainly better than the junk I had before.

5 of 5 WAY BETTER THAN IPOD Friday, December 07, 2007
sunny from Vic
I just bought a sansa viewer and its amazing. the radio is crystal clear, the picture quality is great and its easy to find all your files. Its really thin and light. the design is also very modern. Ipods don't have as many features as this little beauty. Voice recorder is also included and the battery life is longer than the ipod. the price is also very cheap. i saved about $80 on this 8gb mp3 and the ipod nano is $280 with less features. I am a very happy customer so give this mp3 a go

4 of 5 Hard to beat for the size and $$$ Tuesday, December 04, 2007
Pete from Columbus, OH.
Not too small and not too big. Great audio performance and acceptable video. Workmanship is solid and can be "felt" in the product. Not tied down to proprietary software... just plug in and fill with tunes(has storage/flash mode and media player mode). Does require software to convert pics and vids to appropriate type/size/bitrate for the player. This is my second one... I'll probably keep buying same as capacity increases.

5 of 5 Glad I got it when I did! Monday, December 03, 2007
Jen from Fredericksburg, VA
I bought the Sansa e280 on Cyber Monday from Amazon because they were out of stock at this buy.com site. I've been playing this thing for a few days now and I am nothing but happy, happy, happy with it! There was one issue that surprised me and it might surprise others if they are not forewarned. Once you hook up the player to your computer with the USB cable and go into the Windows Media Player (sync) mode, the player will start to download ALL of your media files. YIKES!! I didn't realize (because the instructions really are lacking!) that I would have to choose to manually sync items one at a time in order to avoid the MASS downloading that started up quickly and without my knowledge of what was happening. LOL! So in the meantime, in just a few seconds, the player downloaded a TON of photos I had no use for looking at in the MP3 mode *like my ebay photos!? LOL!* but I just deleted them and started over with being able to manually choose which files to load into the player. I had also read other reviews that said I'd need to upgrade the earphones right away. I didn't think they were that bad, of course there's always room for improvement and I will buy a replacement when I have the chance to look at my options. For now, I am fine with the ones that came with the Sansa. All in all, this is a fabulous little gadget with LOTs of wonderful functions and I am very happy with my choice!!

5 of 5 Excellent multi purpose player Sunday, December 02, 2007
bmilin from San Francisco, CA
I have found that the Sansa e280 easily allows transfer of music to go from Rhapsody, transfer of short video clips with sound, transfer of music I own and transfer of audiobooks. The 8 GB memory allows for storage of multiple items and the design makes changing between various files easy. Additional storage can be added by use of a micro SD card.
