What can I do with this Secure Digital card?

You can expand your memory in your Digital Camera, PDA, Smart Phone, MP3 Player or just about anything that has an SD slot.

Is 256MB a lot of memory?

With a 3 Mega Pixel digital camera you can store up to 213 pictures, 4 Mega Pixel you can store 128 pictures and with a 5 Mega Pixels 102 pictures. Or you can store 64 songs for your MP3 Player (based on 4MB per song.) Whatever your digital needs are this card can handle it.

What is Secure Digital?

The Secure Digital (SD) Memory Card is a flash memory storage device designed to meet the security, capacity, performance and environmental requirements inherent in emerging audio and video consumer electronics devices. The SD Card design is highly leveraged from the existing MultiMediaCard specification. Key enhancements over the MultiMediaCard include cryptographic security for protection of copyrighted data, up to a 4X improvement in the data transfer rate and a user-selectable write protect switch on the card casing. Improvements in Electro Static Discharge (ESD) tolerance are also provided through enhancements to the card's protective casing. The SD Card is ideally suited for portable digital devices such as audio players, digital still cameras, digital video camcorders, handheld PCs and cell phones. The card is slightly thicker than a MultiMediaCard allowing it to contain more memory for higher data capacity while maintaining the smallest area profile in the market. Host systems designed for the SD Card will allow reading and writing of existing MultiMediaCards thus ensuring that existing user data can be easily migrated to, and used in, next generation systems.

4 of 5 SanDisk Customer Support Poor Friday, August 06, 2004
Nutnfancy from South Jordan, UT
I have used two of these cards extensively for the past 6 months. One has been great, the other simply quit working and would not read in any device. I found SanDisk customer service to be unresponsive and slow in the replacement process. Moreover I made the mistake of sending this card back to them via USPS (not Priority Mail i.e. no tracking on it) and they lost it. They refuse to replace it and I have lost a card in the process. For a measely 256mb card they should have just replaced it, no questions asked but they've stonewalled me. I'll be reluctant buying SanDisk in the future. This never would have happened if their card would have worked in the first place!

5 of 5 Cruzer lives up to its name Sunday, October 19, 2003
A Customer from Minot, ND
I am a busy restaurant owner with several locations, and am always on the move. I bought the SanDisk Cruzer with 256 memory and put my entire accounting system on it. Now it doesn't matter where I am, I can plug my Cruzer into the USB port of the computer on site, and access any accounting data that I need. Then when the day gets short, I can bring it home, plug into my computer and access accounting while I relax to music. It has made my job easier.

5 of 5 The mother of all memory cards Friday, March 07, 2003
Jim Myers from San Francisco, CA
My digital camera is like a powerhouse now with this 256MB SD card. If your running out of memory on any of gizmos - PDA, MP3 player, etc., then get an SD card and you'll be back in business. DO NOT GET A MEMORY STICK CARD!! You'll be sorry! Anyway, highly recommend...

5 of 5 The bigger the better: SD Cards are the definite s Friday, February 07, 2003
ray_manna from New York, NY
No doubt about it - SD capacity will reach 1GB in 2003!! Yes, it's true folks - and they work in everything from my Palm to my HP printer to my Panasonic digital video camera! I am definitely impressed with the 256MB product which holds much more music on my MP3 than before. I took a look at Memory Stick, but the products are not BACKWARD COMPATIBLE! As for SD media, even when the cards go to 1GB they will still be "backward compatible" with all my products, which makes my year! As for data transfer rates; SD cards are very fast, especially when compared to Memory Stick. My first digital camera was a Sony and it took forever to read the "stick." I can't tell you how much happier I am interfacing with SD!
