Samsung T240HD TOC-Touch of Color 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - 10,000:1 (DC), 5ms, HDMI, Built-in HDTV Tuner

I believe this to be a computer monitor 1st, a TV 2nd. I picked it up as a TV for my bedroom as I'm a big fan of Samsung having purchased 2 other larger HDTVs that they make previously. I don't mind the size, and the picture is good* (see below), and the sound is OK. The biggest problem I have with the TV, which isn't a HUGE deal, but is a bit of a pain, is that the stand it comes affixed to doesn't allow for a downward adjustment. In other words, you can be level with the TV or above it (by adjusting it to face higher) but if you're below the level of the TV you may find it moderately to very difficult to get a good picture. Personally, since the TV is in my bedroom, I have a California King that's about a foot or two lower than the TV so I can watch it over my legs/feet and the picture begins to degrade quickly if you're below "level" with the TV. Since you can't adjust downward (but you can adjust up, as if you'd be over the TV looking down for some odd reason) this can be a problem. The sound is tinny, though maybe I'm spoiled from my other larger TVs, but not horribly so. If you're buying this for a kitchen or at most for the bedroom, you should be OK, but I wouldn't expect more than a decent TV. The price is good compared to what other TVs were going for at the time I bought it. Now I think you could probably pay a couple hundred more and get a 42" though, so you may want to check around. All in all I'm OK with the TV but not ecstatic about it. I think I paid $275 or something on this site, so I guess I can't complain too much for a Samsung. Like I said, the picture is good if viewed from the correct angle and the on/off button is cool as it's a sort of pressure switch or something...there's no button or switch, you just touch a certain area and it gives a little "ding dong" and turns on. Just got it out of the box tonight and was easy to set up. Traditional base and screen setup, easy to program and great picture quality. The speakers are the biggest downfall like the others said. I hooked up a pair of computer speakers on it with a small subwoofer and it sounds great. Can't wait to get it hooked up to my laptop. Came with DVI, VGA, and stereo cables! Great value!

Great product for PC use and a small TV for bedroom. The in-built speakers are not that great. I am using Bose desktop speaker system to get perfect sound from this TV.

When I first saw the low price on this monitor/TV I couldn't believe that the product had a 1080P resolution. It makes the perfect monitor and with a quality antenna or cable connected allows the user to watch HDTV just by pushing a button on the included remote control. The only drawback I've found is the built-in speakers are not very powerful. However, there is an included stereo patch cord if you'd like to connect the Samsung to an external sound source. It has two HDMI inputs as well as a headphone jack, nice for night surfing or watching TV without disturbing the household. A very excellent buy, both in quality and function.

I use this as a tv and workstation monitor. use the hdmi connector to connect my laptop. even have my xbox hooked up to it. i am quite happy with it.

We use it as HDTV in a small bedroom and the color and clarity are perfect. When we aren't watching tv, we switch over and use it for our computer monitor. Very satisfied with this product!!

This Samsung is great! I use it as a bedroom HDTV and have a PC hooked up to it as well. Adjusts height and angle well, picture is tremendous as either a TV or monitor. My only issue is with the delivery - it was left on my front porch in broad daylight. Luckily a friend saw it and brought it in for me, but it could have easily been stolen.

This monitor is great as a computer monitor and if you're watching it at eye level. Any other angle the picture will ghost. The audio sounds tinny. I bought it for a bedroom and put in on top of my armoire. It is too high while sitting in bed to get the picture angled for the proper view, even with the tilt base. I've purchase some wireless speakers to see if I can improve the sound quality. Again, a good pc monitor, but not a TV.

I bought this TV as an upgrade for an older one that quit working.I couldn't be more satisfied.The picture is excellent in HD.It's also a monitor so it's much cheaper than a regular 1080 HDTV.The ONLY drawback is it can't be wall mounted,but for the price I can live with that.

I bought this Samsung in anticipation of the digital switchover. Best pic ever - so sharp. Excellent reception and good sound, and having a 26" monitor is fantastic. Rarely am I so pleased with a purchase but I shopped around online and read the reviews. After weighing some of the negative comments on this one I decided to try it out and I am pleasantly surprised. I have yet to hook it up to the DVD player and stereo - so in that regard the jury is out. That hookup is not the same as for the TV it replaced so some work will be required in figuring it out. Great value.

Fantastic! Currently using as a computer monitor (for 2 pc's) with default resolution and it is superb. The second is running at 1024 x 768 with no problem via the VGA port. Included VGA and DVI cables! And the base rotates (lazy susan bearing in the base) which is great as it does double duty as a TV in my office. Speakers are a little weak which is the only downside I can think of.

This unit is exactly what I wanted and needed for the price (279). I wanted a second TV for my apartment, and couldn't be happier. If you are looking for a 24" LCD TV.... BUY IT!!

I bought this TV for installation in a motorhome. It HAS to be mounted to the wall. There is NO provision for wall mounting. I confirmed this by calling Samsung.

PLEASE READ! I bought this thinking that the HDTV was going to be excellent viewing. I WAS WRONG!!! Even though it is a 1080p tuner, when I plugged in my cable tv line, the picture looks REALLY CRUMMY!!!! Heck, my CRT television outperforms this Samsung!!! My Mother has a 32" LG 720p 20,000:1 LCD tv and hers is by far A LOT better viewing!!!!!! As a computer monitor, this is SWEET!!! As a tv, it is VERY SAD!!! The speaker output volume is fine for me. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

I have this unit and the bigger brother the 25.5" T260HD. I bought these last summer when they weren't on sale. I had three issues that kept me from giving this a 5 star rating. 1. the T260HD came out of the box with a dead pixel (at least it is red instead of green, annoying nonetheless for a brand new panel). 2. I use this in a bedroom with a media center pc connected via HDMI and an original XBOX connected. Getting the XBOX connected required buying a third party component cable kit. The panel doesn't have s-video inputs. 3. TV performance is Excellent! But colors when using the PC are bland, pale, and gray. I haven't been able to configure the unit at a setting that is warm compared to other PC LCD panels. Otherwise, response is quick and the styling is very nice.

pros: cheap price, no pixel issues, all input types, tilts up to a good angle. con: buy.com ships this in the actual product box with no further padding. My box was slightly roughed up but works like a charm. I don't know how I surfed the internet before...constant scrolling is now a thing of the past

I have only had this for a couple of days now so I can not attest to it's longevity, but I love it thus far. As for the tilt issue discussed in other reviews, my solution is as follows. There is a separate joint that connects the monitor to the stand. Before connecting said joint to the monitor or the stand, exercise the joint which will function as the tilt joint. This is the metal plate that slides into the monitor. Move it back and forth a few times to get it moving (yes it takes a lot of force!), then once connected to the monitor, it will move with more ease. I love the tuner, TV's and Computer monitors are blending together these days (it's about time!) and this is a great example with quality and affordability. (Screw cable, I get all the TV I need in HD with my $10 RCA UHF/VHF antenna!) I have had a 50" Samsung Plasma TV for a couple years now with no problems. I have a lot of faith in Samsung displays, they seem to make quality, reliable products in this category. I'm not a fan of the piano gloss finish. Maybe for my television set because it's nice to have it "flashy" but I miss flat black monitors. I want my monitor to blend in to the room a little more. Not a big deal though.

Well! As described by several other it is a great monitor and a basic HDTV. As someone noted, monitor has to be at the eye level to see clear picture.

mine at least has a tilt. i didn't believe that it did at first. so i got frustrated and tilted it. it was kind of hard but it is there. great monitor and built in tuner definitely seals the deal. 2 hdmi hookups. nice picture. very bright by default had to turn brightness way down. most attractive monitor that i've seen. sound kinda tinny though. viewing angles and contrast ratio could be better also. over all very happy. AND IT CAN TILT!!!!!

Don't know why but the price has gone up over what I paid last month. Quick shipping and no problems to be had. Went from a 22" to this 24" and it is very large on my office desk. Like the fact that it is also a HDTV as well as my computer monitor. Would definitely purchase a Samsung again. Like how I can switch between TV and Computer with the touch of one button. As another reviewer states I wish it had a tilt on it.

The resolution quality is exceptional for a monitor at this price. Because this model is a high definition tv and a computer monitor, it has additional capabilities that a high defintion tv does not have. The viewing angle is okay but you must be viewing the tv straight on when you are adjusting your contrast, color and skin tones. The size of the tv/monitor makes for an awsome computer monitor. I would use this tv/monitor in a bedroom or home office. I am happy that I got a tv of this quality for the price

The picture is great. The only slight issue is that the speakers are a little weak and there is no tilt. The speakers aren't a big issue unless you are going to use it as a tv in a big room.

i haven't used the TV because i don't have cable and i haven't bought an HDTV antenna yet, so i use it exclusively as my computer monitor. it's beautiful and bright and large! so much better than my little 17" monitor. i wish i had enough money to buy 2 more!

Needed a small screen TV for a very small viewing room; maybe 5-10 feet away. This LCD 24" panel at this price is an awesome value! The full HDTV 1080i/p support looks great with a cable-TV supplied HDMI cable connection. The value for the money and performance makes Samsung a name I'll remember. The option to connect a computer with the DVI input allows using this panel for NetFlix and/or general computer work; I connected my laptop and was able to work with the crisp 1920 x 1200 resolution quite well. Can't go wrong with this model.

I am currently using it as a computer monitor. I really like this monitor. It can be very bright but can be tweaked with the video menus. The remote that came with it is a plus. I own 2 other samsung tvs and the menus are easy to navigate. I use a separate speaker set so I don't use the monitor speakers. Overall I am highly satisfied with this samsung monitor. I'd definitely buy another.

Been using this as a computer monitor for several weeks now and absolutely love it. It's bright clear and works great. When I first set it up I just laughed, it was so big compared to my previous monitor. Wow. The price was great too. On top of that it is a TV so I have nothing but good things to say about it.

Samsung 24" LCD TV/Monitor seems to work fine as a TV. Will not work as a monitor with my Sony computer (verified by going to the Samsung website)

I bought this monitor for my room thinking that a 24 inch LCD would be a good size tv for my room. It never disappointed me. I was just confused though with the build-in HDtv tuner. All I thought the monitor has the capability of finding HD channels WITHOUT the need for a separate TV ANTENNA. Just a thought. But, like I said, overall, it is a great LCDTV to have.

Great unit. Picture is wonderful and I switch back and forth between internet and TV viewing. Slow to wake up after it goes to sleep. I have to turn it on and off, no big deal.

I bought this when I decided to replace my laptop with a desktop. I also wanted a second TV and this baby just fit the bill perfect. And to tip it up Buy.com gave it for 299$ which was just awesome. The picture, contrast and resolution is very very very good. I had bought a HP 24' inch which I returned and this one is better contrast and resolution. Connectivity is very good, 2 HDMIs and audio out enables me to attach my Bose speakers and I can connect my PS3 and Dell Studio desktop both with HDMI...very very high quality results. Some reviewers complain about the sound. I find the sound as very very acceptable. Ofcourse the bose speakers make it sound great. But TVs sound is pretty good too for a Studio, Kitchen or Bedroom. Do no expect home theatre is you are not paying for it :) The looks will blow you off. I have not seen a more beautiful piece of electronics item. It is a keeper for sure. It is inteligent too....just as you startup it automatically tunes all the channels. The OSD is very intuitive. No worries. Highly satisfied and very happy with the product.

I bought this set for my bedroom viewing. I have a 3x5' tall dresser which the TV sits. When your are standing looking at eye level the picture is great. Once you go sit or lay on the bed the picture starts to go dark. This is because it's more a monitor than a tv. It's a TN panel monitor with HDTV capabilities. Does not have the VESA mount holes so you can't use most wall brackets. Samsung does make a mount but it only tilts up and down 20 degrees. You cannot turn side to side. If you plan to watch at eye level your in good shape.

Great monitor overall but if you demand 1900x1200 resolution as listed the monitor is defective. This is a known issue with this and Samsung will only repair or send you a refurbished model. I will keep as 1680x1050 is fine for my 52 year old eyes. HDTV features are excellent, however this monitor suffers from a "red push" and this can be all but eliminated with calibration software.

Very satisfy with this product. Was very surprise that a DVI cable was included in the package! The only thing that is "bad" is that the speakers are kinda weak. But very happy!

Overall Satisfied with the product. Only thing missing is, I can not see future tv program guide. It shows only current program information. I mainly use it as a TV. I bought this because I can use it as a monitor or in bedroom as it is small if I buy big TV in future.

I am glad I bought this monitor, it delivers a sharp view and quality image, the menu is nice and easy to use, the quality of the design is noticable, I couldn't find anything cheap so far. You cannot go wrong with this monitor/TV!

Great price and incredible picture. My only caveat is that the sound is tinny. I used the headphone output on the side of the unit to input a self-powered speaker system and now I have good sound to go with the fantastic picture.

Bought 2 units, 1 for home and 1 for college son. Wished I had bought 4 instead. Home Setup: DELL D810 Laptop with 1920x1200 screen, Samsung T240HD acts as 2nd monitor with similar 1920x1200 resolution; As a computer monitor: Fabulous; As a HD TV: Fabulous; I watched off the air HD (KHOU-DT 1080i) golf Masters, the picture is so crystal clear that you can literally see the golf ball dimples!!! Also energy consumption is very low (75W max). Intended to use this as my hurricane hunker down TV running on 12V battery with inverter. Tested on small 12V batter [CSB GP1272]. Ran for 2+ hours on full charge. Looks: Fabulous. Very glossy beautiful black. Inputs/Outputs: Too many for me to use. I used DVI input for monitor, and antenna input for TV. Downside: No wall mount capability, but not big issue with me. Speakers are a little soft. Noticed a little buzzing sound when I connected the DELL D810 sound output to the T240HD input with the provided 3.5mm cable. Buy.Com: Fabulous shipping. Super sale price.

Two gripes. One the speakers are way underpowered so you'll need externals. Cables for component hookup not included. Couldn't hook up kids dvd or playstation 2 without buying $20 worth of cables from Radio Shack.

I needed a TV/laptop monitor for the bedroom and almost bought the 22" 720p model from a competitor. A couple of weeks later I saw this 24" 1080p model at Buy.com for the same price of $300 and jumped on the deal. I have been in love w/ the product since I pulled it out of the box as it looks great even when turned off! The wide screen is excellent for my excel documents and tv/computer pictures look great on the monitor.

This is probably the best TV there is for this size and price range. Picture clarity is superb and size is good for a bedroom. Sound is rather weak but again it is probably not designed for large living room anyway. Can't go wrong with this.

I originally bought 2 T240HD monitor/TV screens -- 1 for my computer and 1 for my kitchen to use to watch the local broadcast HD channels on the antenna while eating breakfast in the morning. I ended up buying a 3rd to put a second screen on my computer. Now I use 1 to watch streaming Netflix movies full-screen (in Hi-Def when they start offering it) and the other for surfing the net at the same time. When I'm not using the computer, I can use the screens to watch TV! The built-in HD Tuner pulls stations in from the antenna better than my old HD Tuner converter box. One thing lacking is an on-screen program grid like my old Samsung digital tuner has. Overall I rate the Samsung T240HD a 5 on a scale of 5 for exceptional value, versatility. Picture quality is VERY nice. My only other complaint would be the built-in speakers. Even at full volume setting of 100, the sound output seems to be about 30% of full loudness with what you'd be used to. This is fine if using in a quiet environment, but any background noise would drown out these speakers. You CAN connect the Optical Digital audio output to a digital receiver if you have that option, but there is no other connection for external speakers. I have been looking for a solution which offers TRUE HD 1080p. Most TVs and monitors are ADVERTISED as being HD, but are NOT 1920x1080. The T240HD is actually 1920x1200 so you get even MORE resolution than required to be TRUE HD. Using FULL 1920x1200 resolution on my PC on each screen gives a LOT of desktop area to have several different windows open and visible simultaneously. These screens are very clear when used at full resolution, also. I do not believe you would be dissappointed with this product!

Overall monitor has excellent display. A major flaw is the cheap, poor quality speakers. The sound is very good if you connect external headphones or computer speakers to the convenient side access mini-headphone jack. Even using the menu driven audio equalizer can not correct for the poor sound from the speakers. Great price when it was on sale. Hard to find a 1080p 1920x1200 monitor/HDTV at this price.

Had my eye on this for 6 months. It went on special for $300 and free shipping. Had to jump on that. I am so glad I did. This monitor replaces a 19" 4/3 ratio Samsung I've had for years. The pixel size of .27 on a monitor this large means you will see sharp text and great graphics. I'm not a gamer, so I don't know if 5ms response is quick enough for that. The 1080P full HD TV is an incredible bonus at this price. Bottom Line: I can'tsee a better value anywhere on the net for a 24" monitor/HDTV. Plus it comes with a 3 year warranty. GO FOR IT.

I'm thrilled with this purchase. It arrived in 2 days (even with the "free shipping" choice), was in great condition, and was very easy to put together. I'd read somewhere the stand was difficult to snap together, but I had no issues with it. What was most important to me - and what I'm pleased to report has worked out well - is that the equipment look great as a TV AND as a monitor. In the past, TVs didn't looks great as monitors, and monitors didn't have a TV tuner built in. I've tested this with cable TV, HDTV, streaming video, and basic PC functions (word, excel, web surfing) and they all appear stunning. I was also pleased that the TV came with additional cables (I think DVI, HDMI, and VGA - but I'm not at home to verify) and of course the remote control. I find the speakers very adequate for a bedroom TV. I have no desire to wall mount, but note that it doesn't appear to be designed for it.

This is a sweet TV.. Only problem is in order to wall mount it you need a special wall mount bracket. The bracket will only tilt front and back and is currently on a nation wide back order.. Still a great tv
