4 of 5 Great buy Great Features But.... Tuesday, March 21, 2006 A Customer from Dallas, TX
I'm very satisfied thus far with this unit. Slim design and versatile. No RGB/HD connection and I find the Menu hard to read. This is great for the price, great for a kitchen or bedroom! All in All I'm happy with it! I would recommend it! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great value for your money! Tuesday, February 21, 2006 A Customer from Fargo, ND
Good value for your money... picture isn't quite as good as I thought that it would be, but this isn't a HD after all!
Good deal overall and would highly recommend! Was this review helpful?

Happy to have purchased this Samsung 710P. Computer screen works excellent. As for the TV that also is great. Connections for DVD on the side work very well with the S-Video. Instructions with the disc, give you information you need to connect and operate. Overall, for the price ,it is a good investment. I tip my hat to Samsung. Thank you Buy.com. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Cheapest LCD TV (as of 2/06) Monday, February 06, 2006 A Customer from Athens, OH
I'd been wondering when the LCD monitor companies would figure out that a $30 tuner into an existing LCD would make a cheap TV. Samsung seems to be first. This is a good little TV, with a price I couldn't beat. The quality isn't perfect, but I chalk that up to the cable company and old wiring, as the CRT it replaced wasn't that good. My wife thinks the picture is better than the CRT.

The remote is a joke. But, a $6 universal remote works great.

I found a cheap VESA wall mount at the local megamart (~$30) and mounted it sideways to get the tilt for whole room viewing. The only problem with the mounting is that the base cannot be easily removed and must be folded flat below. But, a little Velcro and the base becomes a remote holder. So, the whole cost with monitor, mount and new remote (+ $15 buy.com coupon) was under $300.
All in all, this is a great deal at this time. I expect that other manufacturers will catch on in the next year. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great monitor, but average TV images Friday, February 03, 2006 Jace888 from Saint Louis, MO
You can't find a better deal for a LCD / TV than this samusng. As a PC monitor this samsung is absolutely beautiful. The 17in screen is great, but as a TV the image quality is only average. This samsung should be used first as a monitor and as a TV second because the image quality is grainy and not very sharp. It's extremely easy to use with all the ports you need. Overall I think it's wonderful Was this review helpful?

This is a response to the review of "A Customer from Saginaw, Texas ." He/she noted that this is a bad TV because his/her $100 tube TV provides much sharper pictures than this monitor. But this is an unfair review. You should know LCD TVs will inevitably display poor picture quality when the source is lower than their native resolution. This monitor has a 1280x1024 resolution, and the analog TV signal has a much lower resolution. If you use a 720p or higher source, you will notice the picture will be much better. Further, NO other TV technology can produce a better picture than the conventional tube TV (at least currently). But this TV will provide many other benefits that your $100 tube TV cannot. I just want to point out you should know the technology before you buy one. Was this review helpful?

I have placed two of these TVs on either side of a 42" plasma screen - they have a wide angle viewing range, and I am overall very pleased.
The remote for these TVs, however, is really too small for adult fingers. But, since I use a programable universal remote, this was not a big factor for me. Was this review helpful?

"A Customer from Denver, CO" obviously wrote the review before opening the box! In addition to the cable/tv input, the monitor input, the S-video input, and the sound in/out, there are RCA hookups on the left side! I don't know of any DVD player or Xbox you can't hook up using those!
I put a 4 on "ease of use" because the instruction manual wasn't that well written. Other than that it's great as a second screen for design work or for use as a tv. Was this review helpful?

Beautiful monitor; sharp, crisp image (not a single dead pixel noticable); good sound quality; thin design (great space saver); and easy to install. But, I bought this monitor to function as a tv, monitor, and display for Xbox and DVD - all in one. (yay) However, the only connectors for this tv/monitor are for TV cable, power, and sound. Ergo: No Dice on the Xbox. Xbox and DVD players use the same connectors - so don't buy this monitor if you're looking for a connection to DVD players or Xbox. That said, I'm bummed, b/c it features an awesome picture and a slick design. Regretably, I'll probably have to return it looking for more functionality. Was this review helpful?

We were looking for a small 2nd TV that we could hang on the wall. This is a very attractive monitor. Have it currently connected to DirecTv S-cable and RCA audio jacks. The TV images look very good. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to get a very cheap LCD TV. As for using this monitor with a PC, I have yet to hook it up to one, so I can't comment on that. From what I've read it is better at TV. The picture is very bright. I've noticed the slight ghosting, but it isnt bad at all. One Con -- the audio/S-cable inputs I use are on the left side instead of in the back so it doesnt look as neat as I'd want it to on the wall. But, you can't beat the price since I've seen 13" dedicated LCD TVs for more. Was this review helpful?

The Syncmaster 710MP turned out being a good computer monitor with a poor TV display. I have found no way to improve upon my current picture. The colors bleed together, especially the reds and oranges. The picture is not crisp at all. FYI: I have cable TV connected to the monitor and all of my $100 TV's have a much clearer picture. If you want to purchase this as a monitor, I would recommend it to you. If your main use is a TV, I would recommend you buy a cheaper TV. Was this review helpful?

I purchased this item and returned it in one day...
It is a wonderful monitor and does everything the ad says it
will do... The graphics are fine....
I returned it BECAUSE I wanted a monitor with a TV Tuner with
picture in picture.. so I could see the TV in the corner and do my computer work. That unit does not do it .. nor does it state that it does.....
I bought a SCEPTRE which states that it has PIP and does Was this review helpful?

Samsung 710MP is a great all around monitor. TV works great and works beautifully as a PC monitor. I recommend this sharp looking unit to anyone who will use this monitor as all around, mission not critical work. If you are graphic artist who needs accurate monitor, stick with your favorite CRT. I am fairly discriminating PC user and I find this monitor very appealing. Was this review helpful?

The specs on this display are incorrect. This display does NOT have any s-video or RCA inputs. I cannot fault Buy.com becuase the technical specs on Samsungs website are incorrect as well. This is a nice display in my opinion and I am happy and will keep it, but I was expecting more. Was this review helpful?

Very nice unit. Plug and play... was up and running in minutes. I am quite pleased with the quality of the display in both PC and video modes. I was disappointed that the unit does not support picture in picture but I am not complaining too loud based on the price. I would definately recommend this to other at the $399 price with free shipping (after $100 rebate). Was this review helpful?
