Knowing little about camcorders, I did not want to spend a great deal for a starter camera. I researched a number of the lower end cameras and selected this one. First, the price was right. Second, it had a number of desireable features especially that it uses SD cards. The camera is compact and relatively easy to use. One thing that is annoying for me is that I can not start and stop the camera with the hand I am holding the camera in. It is a little awkward to use the free hand to start and stop the camera. So far I have not figured out how to turn the bult-in mic on and off. It is on all the time. The camera takes nice quality movies. For the money it is a good camera. A good starter camera for me.
