This is the perfect companion to my Acer Aspire One Netbook. It's not as slim as some burners, but not much bigger than an old-style "thick" jewel case - maybe twice the thickness. It's completely USB powered and comes with a cable that allows it to be powered by a second USB port if needed. I have yet to find that to be necessary (I have a 6-cell battery, if that matters). It also has handled all formats of DVD/-R/-RW/RAM that I've thrown at it. Was this review helpful?

Great External DVD Writer. It works well with both my laptop and netbook. Lightweight so it's easy to take along with a netbook. Plus it's USB powered so you don't need a power adapter (also saves weight). Comes with Nero Essentials for writing (fairly basic, but works fine). Was this review helpful?
