Love the laser compared to ink jet for the toner vs. ink value. The price for the machine was good. Get the cable for under $20 on Buy.com when you purchase printer if you don't have USB cable. Cables at Best Buy start at $35. The all-in-one function of the machine is great. I bought the Samsung mostly for the scanner to scan and email documents. I've used HP scanners and think the HP software is better- the Samsung scans only into jpg format (from what I could figure out- maybe I am doing something wrong). I like the HP software better because of the scanning options and you can press a button on the machine to scan and select where you want the scan to go and what format on the HP. Not the Samsung. But for the price and having laser and all 3 functions, it's pretty simple to use- the Samsung is fine and it works well. If scanning is your big need, make sure this one works for you. Compare it to others esp. the software.

This laser printer/scanner/copier is my first multi functional printer and I am very satisfied. I bought this with a 50 dollar rebate a month ago and I was happy from my first print 'til now. The scanner is great and you can choose what quality you want it to scan in which determines how large the file will be. The copier is efficient and fast. After a maybe 15 second warm-up, the copy machine copies just as fast as a copy machine you see at the corner store or kinko's. No color copies though, which is fine with me since I'm just using this for college. What you may not see in the picture is in the back of the printer where the power button is and the plugs are plugged in, the printer sticks out on the bottom half about 2-3 inches, so for those who have limited space, take note. I highly recommend this printer for those who don't fax much and don't need color. This printer is fast, efficient, and reliable.

The quality of the laser print is as good as much larger machines, even when printing out greyscale pictures and graphics. Also, while not a speed demon, it prints at more than sufficient speeds for me. It all too no time to set up.
Since I don't print color and am sick and tired of paying a ton for those inkjet cartridges, I am very pleased to be back to laser.
The copy quality is also good, although you should note that there is no feeder. This was okay for me since size of footprint and height were high priorities as my desk station has limited space.
My only nit is the location of the on off switch. It is on the right side towards the rear and that's where I have this pressed up on the wall. Having said that, it's recessed a bit from the outer edge so you can slip in your hand to turn it on. A button on the front would be my preference, but maybe they didn't want you to inadvertantly turn it off in the middle of a print job. I know my computer has a power button right above a USB port and I'm always switching it off accidentally. So from that perspective, it's not so bad to have it in the back.
Also, I got an extra toner cartridge since it was also pretty affordable. All together, this is an outstanding deal.

We bought this printer for my husband to use for the million papers he has to print out for his class. Our old printer took 20 minutes to print 10 pages, so we knew we had to get something more efficient. The day we got the Samsung he set it up and had worksheets printing in no time. We've had no problems so far and would recommend it highly!

Excellent printer-scanner-copier machine. Print quality is great for the price. Scanner is satisfactory, not great.
CONS: Makes a humming noise when heating up and when in standby mode (for approx 5 mins), then becomes totally silent.

I've used other Samsung products in the past without problem and this printer seems to carry on that tradition. The only issue I have is that the software doesn't directly support scanning on a Mac. You need a TWAIN compliant program (PhotoShop, etc.) to import a scan file. The scanning also seems rather slow and I don't know if that's related to TWAIN or not.

The Samsung SCX-4200 laser printer & copier just works, and works well, for a very reasonable price. Operation is intuitive and simple. I have had other Samsung laser printers and have had zero breakdowns in a year and a half and thousands of copies.
