Samsung Cameras is bringing a new vision to the digital compact camera market with the NV Series. Consisting of three cameras, the NV7 OPS, NV10 and NV3, the NV Series was developed following a two year consumer research study to gain insight into the lifestyle and needs of consumers and their picture-taking interests. Samsung has devised attractive designs and new user interface (UI) concepts to create a premium product group. As well as offering practical technology and easy usability, the new NV Series stands for individuality and style. The NV10 comes in an 18.5mm thin black aluminium body with Samsung's unique blue ring on its extendable lens barrel, and a pop-up flash. A 10.1 mega pixels, 1/1.8" CCD, not normally used in slim cameras, is used to give better detail - and the 230K, 2.5" wide-view LCD allows you to view brighter, clearer images. The NV10 has the new Smart Touch user interface, making it possible to quickly navigate and set menu items or view pictures. The unique makeup of the Smart Touch UI on the back of the camera is expected to be great fun for users, giving them an experience unlike anything they have tried before. Samsung's unique ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction) system enables you to take better, clearer pictures indoors or in lower light conditions. With this and a great looking design NV10 is the perfect companion to take anywhere. The NV10 also supports TV quality MPEG-4 VGA (640x480) 30fps video, and a Photo Gallery function for a better picture viewing experience; it can be recharged while connected to USB, or by using the high capacity SBP-4442 battery recharge kit. A Dial mode is also offered for added convenience in controlling the camera. Accessories have also been upgraded for this premium range of cameras.

4 of 5 Very good at what it's meant to do Friday, May 11, 2007
Good one if this is what you want from FL

This is a very good compact point and shoot camera and that is all it is. If what you are looking for is great image quality and noiseless pictures in the dark, you are looking in the wrong place. I fell in love with this camera for 2 reasons: 1) it's black and I love black cameras 2) it's a 10MP 3X optical and 5X digital zoom camera for just $235. After using it for about a month, I know both its pros and cons and I still like it. I got some amazing pictures of landscapes. I also got some unusable pictures when I used maximum zoom or took pictures in the dark. Pros: As one of my friends said "Getting a picture is more important than the quality of the picture you get". I take this camera with me where ever I go. It has a great interface. The image quality is pretty good in sunlight. 10MP makes it possible to zoom to 3x5 zoom and still get a image though the picture quality is not very good. Cons: Picture quality is not good in the dark and at max zoom. "Shake reduction" is not good - not comparable to the IS in Canon cameras. Shutter speed is not very fast but its good. Video quality is not good but then it is a camera, not a camcorder. 10MP make the files huge. It's pretty big even at 7 MP. I take pictures at 10 or 7 MP and then use a software to bring down the size. Canon SD800 IS is more compact (can fit into your pocket while this one can't) and has better IS and better picture quality. It costs around 300 dollars whereas you can get this for around 230 now. So if you have an extra 70 dollars to spare and is not particular about your camera colour being black, you can go for SD800 IS. If you do go for this, you won't regret it unless you are very particular about taking pictures in the dark or zooming in on birds.

4 of 5 Camera works great - Drivers are no good Wednesday, April 11, 2007
hrrf@yahoo.com from Denver, CO
I did a lot of research before settling with this camera. I dropped my Canon SD400 too many times and it finally died, so I needed a new point and shoot.

This model takes great pictures, both for web and printing. It's very portable. It takes low-light pictures with some degradation in quality, but you can often get around that by messing with the camera settings. It's a great point and shoot camera, and as a camera I highly reccommend it.

What absolutely sucked is that I couldn't get the Samsung drivers to work, so Windows XP Pro never recognized the camera, and after days of struggling with it, I ended up having to buy an SD Card reader. Samsung's customer support is absolute crap (holy Engrish!) and couldn't figure out the problem either.

It can only handle up to 2GB sized cards, which you can't find out but by trial and error either.

5 of 5 Excellent camera, great value Tuesday, April 10, 2007
Jack from Chicago, IL
It would be easy to to find fault with the NV10, but it doesn't deserve it. It has an aging but excellent lens by Schneider-Kreuznach. A little annoying pop up flash that does a fine job. The quality of the build is the best I've seen in a sub $300 camera. That's the point. This camera sells for less than $300 and is the best point and shoot camera I've ever owned. Beautiful looking and intuitive, they don't get better than this. What are you waiting for? Now I need a case.

5 of 5 Samsung NV10 pleases Thursday, April 05, 2007
A Customer from Norman, OK
This camera is beautiful. I was never much of a Samsung fan, but as of late, i see the name around my home more and more. The camera takes wonderful pictures; crisp clear and totally simple I've heard complaints of image noise, but the only time i've seen any at all is with Auto settings. take the time to play with all the settings! and at the price, this camera is completely unbeatable.

5 of 5 great product lots of fun Tuesday, April 03, 2007
chris o. from new york
i think this camera is awesome i have taken photography and was amazed to see samsung with such a competetive product. some websites are trying to say there shutter speeds are faster and its irrelevant to the everyday use most people are looking for. the other ones also cost more for a half inch more lcd screen wich will probably only eat up more battery life duh! anyways think the camera is great user friendly stands up to the reviews and product description.

termite869@comcast.net from East Rutherford , N.J
Picture quality just blew me away, ease of operation and style . So nice and small and packed with power. I went in a completly pitch dark attic and the picture looked like the lights were on , the flash really impressed me. My verizon cell phone case made a perfect home for this perfect camera on my belt. The metal case makes the integraty even better... WORTH THE BUCKS !!!
