    5 of 5 Excellent choice Thursday, July 10, 2008
    A Customer from Chicago, IL

I purchased mine almost a year ago and this little "friend" never disappointed me. I'm a professional developer and very "selective" when I buy smth. like this. My main initial concern was speed and decided to go with XP instead of Vista (a "resource hog") and 1GB RAM, 60GB HD. Never had a problem with MS Word, Excel, any media, etc. even with more than say 5 other programs open plus anti virus, firewall, etc. running in the background. I'm not saying you can run quite anything with it, but it always surpassed my expectations. Here are a few ideas that worked like a charm for me: - Why pay in excess of $1500 on a car GPS? Pair this little thing with a beeper sized GlobalSat BT338 GPS receiver (for exampel) + IGuidance INAv GPS software at approx. $180 all together and you have the best and most versatile 7 inch screen, portable GPS system. - Fit it with Apple's Wireless BT Keyboard (approx. $80) - yes it works! - and you can stop complaining about the built-in keyboard. You can throw in a Logitech's V270 BT mouse and you've never been more comfortable with an UMPC. - I'm keeping in excess of 25000 business emails in Outlook Express and can do a (body) search in less than 10 seconds - Does your back hurt from sitting too much in front of your quad core desktop PC? Just lay flat in your bad and work via a Remote Desktop Connection. - Quiet your kids when you travel by using it as a media player. A NOTE: Use Windows Media Player instead of Samsung's as it is much faster.

    5 of 5 I love it Wednesday, March 12, 2008
A Customer from Mountain View, CA
OK, It is not a dual core, it is not even fast, but for 700grams you get a full computer in your hand with a screen big enough to surf the web, to read and write documents, and watch movies. This is my 2nd UMPC. The first one was the older version with 512MB RAM, 40GB HDD and 800x480 screen. This one has 1GB RAM, 60GB HDD and 1024x600 screen. These are very significant improvements that make the product a lot more dependable. And, you can still get it with Windows XP. The battery life is good too. One more improvement with respect to the older versions: When using the older one I always thought, "Damn, couldn't they put a strap on the back which you can insert your hand and hold the computer with one hand when needed". They must have heard me. Very good buy for under 1000 bucks. One for the wish list: S-Video output.

5 of 5 Perfect for job Thursday, January 24, 2008
A Customer from Lake Havasu City, AZ
This product works great for taking notes and rapid wireless access to database. I use it for office record keeping and have found it to be fast and easy to use. Long lasting battery. Clear display. Easy access including touch screen, moving mouse and keypad. Seems to work well with all the software I have installed.

    5 of 5 I'm Loving this! Wednesday, January 02, 2008
    nugejoy from NJ
I traded in my OQO model 2 for this because of the larger and more customizable screen size. Wifi is very responsive even with my weak office broadcast. Split keyboard takes some getting use to but it is easier to use that the OQO. The price was great. Mine came with XP-Tablet which is far more responsive that Vista in boot up time. I am VERY PICKY about my electronic toys. I needed something reliable for work, Overall I am happy with the product. I recommend it over the OQO and Vaio UMPC's (I've had both).

5 of 5 Great device with XP Tablet Sunday, December 09, 2007
    A Customer from Austin, TX
This is a fantastic gadget with a sharp display, decent ergonomics, and minimal weight at approx 1.5 lbs. It won't directly replace your laptop because the keyboard is far less usable, but it's a device that will allow you to run almost any windows software, web browse, remote desktop into your other machines, or play your media in a compact and elegant package. As the price on UMPC functionality falls and gets closer to the original origami target range I think the product concept is pretty viable because there is a need to have something bigger than a cellphone yet smaller than a laptop, and with full functionality. I had heard that the Vista version was pretty bogged down but this XP model is plenty responsive. That said, you won't be running multiple operating systems under VMWare on it for example, but if you keep your demands reasonable for a highly portable device it won't disappoint.

5 of 5 Small but mighty Wednesday, November 28, 2007
    SAPhack from Torrance, CA
Weighing in at a little over 1 pound, this little UMPC handles nearly everything I've thrown at it. I can run several instances of IE, Lotus Notes, Word, VPN, iTunes and several sessions of SAP (plus anti-virus and such) all at the same time. Even with all this running I am still not significantly slower than those around me. The 900 Mhz processor rarely pegs out. I also have the keyboard and case bundle intended for the first gen. Q1 (have to use velcro to hold the Ultra in it as it is smaller than the original Q1). Turning off the wireless, I get about 3.5 hours on battery, a little less with it on. For normal business apps its great. I wouldn't even attempt hard core gaming on it, but it does play great movies when I'm stuck on a plane. Sound and graphics are excellent.

4 of 5 works well, but underpowered Tuesday, November 27, 2007
    craig from nj
I got this as a travel pc, something to use for reading, email, and solitaire, as well as some IM apps. I also got it with XP because the limited processor and memory doesn't seem Vista friendly. It works well for limited applications, it is not what you want to use for watching movies, altho I have done that, ripping and transferring takes too much time. Screen is sharp, the 'keyboard' is workable, but limited. Once you add outboard stuff to make it work like a real laptop, it isnt all that portable anymore - go figure.

5 of 5 This UMPC is the Best I've Seen! Thursday, October 25, 2007
    DJW from Davie, FL
This UMPC is flat out awesome! I had been looking at it for a while and purchased it over the Sony UMPC based on screen size and cost. I was certainly not disappointed. I was able to load every program that I was using on my Dell desktop (Office XP, Norton Antivirus, Internet Explorer 7.0, MS Media Player 11 to name a few) and all work just as well as my desktop computer. I also used it with my Sony external CD/DVD burner/drive and it worked well. I purchased with the extended battery based on the other review and it works great. I used the computer constantly over an entire day before needing a re-charge. The keyboard is just like the Samsung Blackjack keyboard, but the numbers are a little harder to use. Overall, a great product and just what I was looking for. Kiss my desktop goodbye!

    5 of 5 Great UMPC Tuesday, August 28, 2007
    dsb from Washington DC
This is the second Samsung Q1 that I've owned (the first was a Samsung Q1P XP w/1Ghz Pentium and 1GB RAM). Don't believe what some people say in their reviews, this processor is plenty fast for all your mobile needs. I've run Powerpoint 2007, Outlook 2007, the Internet and media player at the same time on battery with the lowest CPU setting, without skipping a beat. Can't say that the Vista version is the same, as Vista is a resource hog, but the XP Tablet version cooks. Recommend getting the 6-cell extended battery. The standard battery lasts a bit over 3 hours for normal uses; the extended battery about 7 hours, and the battery bank I haven't been able to deplete completely yet (even on a full work day of use). Recommend this with the highest marks.
