Samsung HLR-5067W - 50" Widescreen HDTV DLP with Digital Cable Ready Tuner

I had been researching what is the best value for my money and hands down this is the best. I purchased this on Buy.com for $1799 no tax and no shipping. Look anywhere else and you will spend from $200-$600 more plus tax and shipping. I receivd this inside of 1 week after ordering it. Great TV. I am using the HDMI with my DVD player (also samung) and it brings a whole new meaing to DVDs. I would only recommencd for anyone making an investment like this to purchase a AC line conditioner to protect your equipment. If you are like me this is not something I ca afford to purchase everyday so I want it protected.

I have owned a similar model (the HL-P5063W) for about two years. During the two years that I've owned it, this TV has been unusable for about 7 months. It worked well for about 11 months, then started having problems. The display turned completely green. About six weeks after repair, the white in the picture "blossomed" -- meaning that any white portion of the picture was 3-4 times as bright as the rest of the colors. After that was repaired, I quit using the cable TV box. When I connected the cable directly to the TV, the picture started looking "pasty". At the same time, the TV could not be turned on using the remote or the front panel button. It had to be unplugged/replugged to make it turn on. Finally, the TV had to be taken to the shop for about two weeks. It's been working ok for the couple of months that it's been back from the shop. This TV also has what I consider a problem with the sound, although Samsung calls the problem "normal operation." The sound is delayed a bit, so if you have another TV nearby, tuned to the same channel, there is an echo effect, because both sets aren't processing the sound at the same rate.

For the price of this online and the feature set, I'd highly recommend the hlr-5067w. The picture is nice and black levels a bit better than comparable LCDs. Standard def looks ok on this, as with most other big screen hdtvs, but HDTV looks great. It was nice to see this in the retail stores side by side to other tvs and order from buy.com. I too was a little skeptical about delivery but it went without incident. My only gripe about this set is the remote which is poorly designed. At least I saved enough money to buy a nice universal remote.

Just finished installing my new 50 inch DLP from Samsung and Buy.com. Picture and sound quality are incredible. I already own a 42 Plasma from Philips and this set is superior. Couldn't be happier with this purchase and Buy.com's quality service.

did all the research - all the pros and cons of plasma,lcd, dlp and lcd projection - all I can say is this dlp tv works for me - brillant picture right out of the box! super HDTV from satellite - even local HD stations off an external antenna from 45 miles away are drop-dead gorgeous! added a Samsung(850) HDMI up-conversion dvd player and movies are so good they look almost 3D!! - delivered in perfect shape 8 days from ordering and the price can't be beat.

Was slightly hesitant about having a big screen w/a bunch of tiny mirrors delivered to my home from Phoenix, AZ, however, I got the TV in perfect condition and the picture is flawless. I tracked the tv a few days after I ordered it and mach1 was also very helpful; in fact, the estimated delivery date was the exact date the tv was delivered!

This tv is great plus buy.com's price and free shipping was awsome. I didn't know what to expect with a purchase of this size from buy.com. Everything was delivered without a hitch, they even had a gauge on the box to make sure the delivery people didn't abuse the tv in transit. Plus I saved about 1000 dollars with delivery and assesories and other fees over the local retail store.

I've been waiting to purchase a HDTV for over a year now and this one caught my eye with all it's features. The manuals that come with it are very concise but it not the simplest TV you'll "fine tune", there is a lot to read about it. Once it's set up properly the picture, sound quality and ease of use is incredible. The picture must be seen to believe it. It sells are "retail" stores so you can view it there. I was a bit sceptical about buying something of this price over the Internet and worried about shipping however, Buy.com had it to my door in less than a week and it was in perfect condition. The TV has everything you could want in a DLP and then some. You can't go wrong with the TV or Buy.com in my book.
