This dvd play working great and I can connect with HDMI cable. I can choose 480p, 720p, and 1080i. it can make normal dvd disks become HD dvd. I tried some of dvd's, this dvd player is good value. Was this review helpful?

I purchased this for the upconverting feature and also the HDMI outputs. I originally installed this with a regular RCA video cable to my Sharp Aquos 1080i LCD tv. When I finally aqcuired the expensive HDMI cable, I unhooked the RCA cable and watched the same movie(Transformers) with the HDMI cable and the upconverting feature turned on. The picture actually degraded! With HDMI and upconverting to 1080i or 720p, a subtle shadow was added to everything on the screen and the pixelation was very noticable. I was able to get the best picture by turning off the upconverting feature and using component cables rather than HDMI. I'm not sure if other 'upconverting' dvd players can do any better, but do not spend extra $$ on this model if you are expecting a better picture than a regular (non-upconverting) dvd player.
I currently have this dvd player connected side-by-side next to my old PS2, both with component cables to the same tv, and can not see even the slightest bit of picture improvement over the PS2. Was this review helpful?

Was shipped fast great service would buy again. The Samsung DVD player is by far the best player I have owned. I have it hooked up with a toslink digital cable and all I can say is Wow! very nice picture it's very easy to use and has some great things built into it. I had bought his DVD player to replace my broken Toshiba DVD player. I was impressed with the Samsung Brand ever since i had bought their TV. This DVD player was amazing havng the ability to upscale to 1080i, and have an HDMI output. It also has DivX support so all the movies you can get online you can play. But this was worth the thought if anyone is looking for a new DVD player under $100 Was this review helpful?
