5 of 5 Great for Image Editing Monday, September 12, 2005 www.cloudspot.com from Olympia, WA
I'm a part time pro photographer and this thing rocks for image editing. I had a bit of a hard time calibrating the color with the Spyder, but once done it's spot on and the dynamic range (1000:1 contrast range) is awesome! Shadow detail is excellent. I've only used it with the DVI (ATI Radeon 9700 pro), so can't say how it works with the analog connection. No dead pixels and a very bright attractive display. I also watch TV on it via a tv tuner card and DVDs and the video playback is fast enough for me. Not a gamer though, so YMMV. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Not for gaming Tuesday, March 29, 2005 Wulfmann from MAW
This may be good for anything else but it is not a good monitor for those that do gaming or simulators particularly with any fast action. The 25ms response time is too slow and there are cheaper LCDs that will actually work better for gaming. If you do not do games, then this is a great monitor. If you want it to have a great view for games don't buy this monitor, IMO. You will have ghost trails following your objects that are in motion.

This is a very high quality LCD monitor with 1000:1 contrast ratio. That means you can actually view a photograph with shadow detail. I ordered two, and both arrived with not a single dead pixel. They rotate, too (if you are doing word processing this comes in handy). Was this review helpful?

Obviously Arlington Virgina has no clue what he is talking about. When I received my 910T the sticker right on the box says 1000:1 contrast ratio. If you check this product on the Samsung Sight, they also claim there monitor has a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Half the sights that I visited while buying this product only rated it at 800:1. I am not sure where they are getting there info. I must admit, I was very aprehensive when ordering this monitor. I really did’nt need a fancy new big flat screen. And, I read many horrer stories of receiving monitors with dead pixels. But, I was tired of my big old clunker CRT. I ordered a DVI Video Card just for my new monitor. I was able to get a card with a Radeon 9225 chip for just under 60 bucks. The installation was easy. Not only is my desk much less cluttered now, but the monitor is very impressive. No dead pixels, and the color definition is definitely better than the old clunker. While researching this monitor I noticed a couple of sources which expressed that the 25ms response time was not adequate for hardcore gamers. Well, I am not a hardcore gamer. But, I am a gamer none the less. I have not noticed any lag in response, or blurry animation. I would say that the animation is improved over my clunker. I noticed that 3d animation, especially, is much sharper. Was this review helpful?

Don't let the other review confuse you. Either he does not have a 910T (he mentioned 1000:1 contrast ratio, which is a different Samsung model entirely), or something else is up.
Either way, this is an excellent monitor as current LCDs go for graphics work. I suggest you go to a store and check it out first, as it is relatively expensive.
Gamers should avoid this and get a 710T. It is smaller, but has faster refresh for that purpose. Was this review helpful?

I received the 910T as a replacement for my defective 712N from Samsung and off the bat I must say Samsung has excellent customer service policies. As for the monitor, the color and quality of the LCD is superb (no dead pixels either). The 1000:1 contrast ratio along with the pivoting display and DVI are excellent features (although I have only used analog). This monitor however, did not receive 5 stars because the tuning software (MagicTune) will not install because it is not compatible with this monitor (according to the error message). I find Samsung at fault for either sending an incorrect version of the software or including software that will not work. Additionally, the pivoting software, while installable does not seem compatible with my nVidea GEForce graphics card in my Dell Latitude. This is no fault of Samsung or the monitor, but worth mentioning that those who purchase this monitor should check if their graphic card will be compatible to take advantage of all this monitor has to offer.
