3 of 5 Nice resolution but has some problems Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from TriCities, WA
The Samsung digital picture frame has very good resolution and a crisp picture. I really like the image quality. However, in slide show mode it tends to lock up frequently. The unit would be better with an internal rechargable battery. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Digital frame--works well at a good price Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from Durham, NC
Very easy to set up. We liked the multiple input methods (usb, flash drive). Sharp image. Perhaps the bezel that surrounds the lcd screen is larger and a bit more contemporary than my tastes--also the word "SAMSUNG" is more prominent than it should be for a photo frame--it's a photoframe, not a TV after all.
Nevertheless, it works as advertised and we got a good deal/rebate on it so we're happy as are the grandparents who received it as a gift.

A very nice product - I would recommend this to just about anyone. Buy.com rebate made it especially nice!

Pros:
Nice appearance. USB connection to computer; Handles SD, MMC, CF cards. Good resolution (800x480 pixels = 15:9) Screen saver built in when not showing pictures. Portrait and Landscape possible with rotating support.

Cons:
Somewhat pricey. Menu system not entirely intuitive. Manual on CD - barebones version on paper. CD Manual just adequate. Scaling down of pictures works great; apparently no up-scaling is available

I had some trouble getting my flash cards to work, but this could have been the cards - they were quite old. A 128MB SD card ended up working fine.

Some notes:

- The price is a bit high, but probably will drop with time.

- I ended up editing all pictures to be at least 800x480 (or 480x800) to be sure they would fill the entire screen (since up-scaling didn't work)

- I cropped all pictures to fit the 15:9 ratio of the screen. This makes the pictures use up the very nice resolution of the screen.

- I chose to dedicate the frame's memory to hold only portrait-oriented pictures and the SD card's memory to hold only landscape-oriented pictures. This way, if the screen is rotated, you simply choose one or the other memory sources and the pictures fit perfectly.

- It would have been nice if Samsung had made the rotating support piece so that it would activate a switch which would rotate the picture - or they could tie this to folders so that the folder chosen to display changes with orientation of the screen. Perhaps there will be a firmware update?

The high resolution of the screen makes it a perfect gift for grandparents - which was my reason for purchase.

Rating:
I gave it only four stars for Value because the price seems a bit high. I gave it four stars for Easy of Use because I feel that the manual and menu system could use some work, and because there was no up-scaling. Five stars for Performance and Overall Satisfaction
Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 pretty darn awesome Thursday, September 27, 2007 Tony from Pittsburgh, PA
Plugged my memory card full of pics in and bam it read the card and started a slide show.
i'm a bit more of an advanced user so i read the specs and resized all my images accordingly for the frame. im not really sure how it would look with them uncropped and everything but im sure it'd still be nice Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great product and great deal. Thursday, September 06, 2007 A Customer from NY, NY
Set-up was very easy, even with my laptop on a vista O/S, the amount of photos it holds is amazing. Unfortunately my wife wants more of them. Was this review helpful?
