| | | The 4GB YP-P2 mp3 is the first Samsung MP3 widescreen (16x9) video player with an optimized, touchscreen user interface. It will also offer Bluetooth capability. The P2 comes ready to pair with stereo Bluetooth 2.0 headphones and speaker systems to provide high quality wireless listening.
video playback - The P2 plays MPEG4 and WMV9 video files in 16:9 DVD friendly format. SAMSUNG Multimedia Software included with the P2 transcodes the video on the computer before transferring to the P2, so videos on the P2 play at the optimal frame size/rate with minimal effort from the user. P2 will also playback at up to 30 frames per second, twice the category average!
Bluetooth 2.0 - Bluetooth is a wireless standard which will enable the P2 to pair with other Bluetooth 2.0 devices. The range of the Bluetooth connection is 32.8 feet. P2 comes ready to pair with stereo Bluetooth 2.0 headphones and speaker systems to provide high quality wireless listening.
touch screen navigation - The touch-screen interface named EmoTrue goes beyond just tapping the screen. Users can swipe a finger across the screen for functions like fast forward or next picture.
plays MP3, WMA and OGG files - MP3 files are the most common music format available today. WMA uses a high quality compression technology so users can have smaller files that sound in near CD quality. Works with Rhapsody, Napster, and Yahoo! so users can download up to 4 million songs and take them on the P2 (separate subscription is required).
FM tuner/recorder with presets - The built-in FM Tuner will scan the entire FM range in less than 60 seconds and automatically place the available FM stations into presets. To eliminate stations with marginal reception, users can adjust the sensitivity to only preset stations with strong reception.
photo text viewer - You can view your photos and text files on the P2. Zoom, rotate, customize text size, color and font makes these great features even more powerful.

I was able to buy the p2 for $100 when the sale was going on and I realize just how much of a bargain I got. The Samsung P2 is a fantastic player, great touch screen and a lot of features. While everyone and their mom has Ipod's, besides not having wi-fi, it's right up there with the ipod touch. It does have blue tooth, which enables it to double as a phone with the purchase of blue tooth headphones. The Firmware updates are one of the best features of the p2, and they are free! It looks like it will be updated for a while, so that it wont simply go by the wayside in a year when a new more advanced touch screen mp3 player comes out. If you are looking for a touch screen and not willing to spend too much money, the Samsung p2 will fit you perfectly. If it was the same price as the Ipod touch, I would still probably got for the Samsung. The picture quality on movies is amazing for a small device, very vibrant and bright like samsung's hdtv's. Pros:
- GREAT!!! video and audio quality. Better than any other MP3 player that I have used.
- Much cheaper than Ipod Touch
- Fairly easy to use although the Samsung Media Software GUI could be made to be more intuitive
- Compatible with all of the video and audio formats that I use (unlike Ipod)
- Bluetooth connectivity. I plan to try it but I haven't as of yet
Cons:
- Touch screen inaccurate at times and no where close to Apple Touch
- Touch screen kind of gimmiky. It works OK but the value add is questionable Was this review helpful?

I bouoght this because I wanted something similar to the touch without paying the price and MOST importantly, I wanted to use bluetooth stero headsets (freepulse) instead of wired headsets. this thing works GREAT.. bluetooth is nice and clear, touch screen is nice, not as nice as the touch's but it is very nice.
received this product and it seems like it is a brand new one. i looked for signs of it being refurbished or used, but it came in original samsung packaging BRAND new.... great choice and at 150 its a steal (I paid extra for faster shipping) no problems so far. just make sure you upgrade to the 3.15 firmware after you get it (google is your friend) Was this review helpful?
