I purchased the Samsung 2493HM 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor last month and I use it with the PHD-205 Advanced Tuner. This monitor performes more than what I expected. The HDTV comes in crisp and clear, really impressive!!! Was this review helpful?

i have been useing this monitor for two weeks now, and overall its been great! i love how it looks, with its sleek shiny black finish. The picture that comes out is VERY nice, especially when i play my playstation 3 via HDMI. Some of the down falls to this monitor is the hard to see control buttons, somewhat gets annoying, but its a minor problem. The price may be a little expensive but once you look at it and put it to use, you wont regret it. i cant stop admiring it. Was this review helpful?

I bought this monitor 2 weeks ago and I still currently own it. I have to say that this monitor serves it's purpose. I bought it specifically for the Xbox 360. I wanted to have a High-Definition display. I was surprised when I had received it in 3 days. I opened the box and I was shocked. This monitor is huge! The packaging was nice and there are no dead pixels in this monitor(at least the one that I have). I plugged my Xbox 360 into the HDMI port and I turned it on, (you have to use the touch sensitive buttons located at the bottom right corner of the monitor), and I was amazed. I have never seen such a nicer display. The colors are bold and they do not look washed out at all. I just want everybody to know, that is interested, that this monitor does display 1080p. There are some reviews that state it does not support 1080p. I went into the Xbox 360 settings and there it was. It automatically detected 1080p. I went into the monitor settings and there it was also, 1920*1200 (1080p). It doesn't necessarily mean that it is actually displayed in 1080p but the picture is amazingly crisp and clear. I have been wanting a High Definition Television for at least 4 years. I have been on the internet and read reviews and also read company reviews about various Hi-Def Tv's. This is the first Hi-Def display I own. Keep in mind that I bought it solely for the Xbox 360. The only negative that I could think of is that the buttons, well, there are no buttons. You have to lighly touch them. I have a light that is right above my monitor and another light that is to the left of my monitor, about 6 feet away from it. I can barely see them. I have to squint and it irritates me because I am not blind and I hate to have to squint in order to view something. So even if your room or where ever you are is lit. It may not be sufficient. You almost have to take a light source and hold it right up to it. This monitor also has an adjustable stand that lets you lower and raise it, too. It has 1 RGB in,1 DVI in (HDCP) and 1 HDMI in connections. So it isn't like the Dell 2408wfp which has 6 or 7 connections. I love this monitor. It has great picture quality. The blacks are pretty black. I don't see any color spectrums or anything like that. The Dell 2408wfp, I heard, has a light red or pink rainbow in one of the bottoms corners of the monitor. After doing a bunch of research, I have concluded that this is a very superb monitor. The speakers are ok. I really don't use them because I have a surround sound system with a digital optical cable connection. I have also read that the speakers crackle or make a very annoying noise. It has been said that they are not of quality. I never heard any unwanted noises but then again I only had the speakers on 30. There is no motion blur. I own Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3. There is no blurring in either games. Yet, in Halo 3, I played it online and it looks like there are some jaggies. I mean some of the levels look nice but it is nothing compared to Call of Duty 4. I just doesn't look right for whatever reason. If you were to compare Halo 3 to Halo 2 in the online area, Halo 3 wins. The graphics are better online but something seems out of place. This is to say that you shouldn't base your decision to buy this monitor on one game. I would recommend it to anyone. I played it right out of the box. The only adjustment I made was to change one of the settings so it is optimized for games. There is a selection called GAME. It has a MagicBright selection but I never tried it along with numerous( I really mean numerous) selections to get the best picture out of the monitor. All in all, I give it a 4 out of 5 because of the touch sensitive buttons. In my mind, I give it a 5 out of 5. I know that other people want to know the truth. So there you have it. I would have turned the monitor on and gone through all of the settings and typed them in so you guys could see all of the selections, but I have to eat right now and watch George Lopez because Home Improvement is going to be on in 11 minutes.
